Luton Town are now just four points off safety having won their last two games against Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough.

It has been quite the turnaround in results for the Hatters and the victories could be crucial as they approach an important final 13 games of the campaign.

On Saturday, Graeme Jones' side beat Middlesbrough as they recorded their first away win since August when they beat bottom club Barnsley at Oakwell.

Ryan Tunnicliffe got the only goal of the game on the weekend as his strike before half-time gave the Hatters something to hang onto.

The midfielder has been remarkable this season in terms of his reliability for Luton, avoiding injuries and being a main stay in the side. Tunnicliffe has featured in all 33 games for the Hatters, and Saturday was the first time the central-midfielder has scored for the club this season.

He was tireless again on the weekend, and aside from his goal produced a strong performance for the side. His passing was not at its best against Boro, making 61% of his passes successfully, but he was regularly trying to find avenues forward for Luton on Saturday.

Tunnicliffe completed 67% of his dribbles which showed that he could be a threat with the ball at his feet despite playing on the left-side of central-midfield.

Aside from his goal, the 27-year-old still put in a shift in terms of his defensive work as he was able to make six interceptions during the fixture. This was important as it helped Luton keep what turned out to be a valuable clean sheet.

In terms of his defensive duels, Tunnicliffe won just 50% of his in the fixture. It's an area he can look to improve, though he did have Martin Cranie besides him doing a lot of the defensive work.

There is definitely potential for the Hatters to put a run together and if they are to produce what would be a stunning escape then they will need more performances like this from Tunnicliffe.
