Derby County fell narrowly short of promotion this season, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Fulham in the play-off semi-finals.

After taking a 1-0 lead into the second leg at Craven Cottage courtesy of a Cameron Jerome header, Derby were in a good position to book their place at Wembley in the play-off final but goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Dennis Odoi ensured Fulham progressed.

Now, Derby may struggle to hold onto their stars as they are cash-strapped.

Tom Lawrence, who only arrived last summer, is likely to attract interest.

Here, we consider whether Bournemouth should move for him by shining a spotlight on his season at Pride Park.

Lawrence has been a constant attacking threat this season for the Rams, netting six goals and contributing with seven assists for his team-mates.

But Derby fans will tell you that he could have been even better.

Lawrence is a raw talent and he is still learning his trade in the Championship.

The former Manchester United academy product has a lot of potential that is waiting to be unleashed if he finds a rich vein of form.

The 24-year-old goes on 2.1 dribbles per match, takes an average of 1.9 shots per game and makes 1.5 key passes in each outing - all of these could be improved upon but are promising signs.

Bournemouth have been linked with moves for Leicester City's Demarai Gray and Sheffield United's David Brooks, suggesting they are keen to strengthen their attacking midfield options, especially if Josh King departs.

Brooks has a lot of potential but Lawrence is just that bit closer to Premier League standard, so maybe the Cherries should favour a move for the Derby man.

The Wales international is versatile and he can play on either wing, as a central attacking midfielder or even as a central striker.

If Bournemouth are planning on adding to their attacking midfield ranks, then Lawrence could be a gamble which pays dividends in the long run.
