The transfer windows may be closed, but there is still scope for clubs to make the latest of additions to their squads via the free agent route.

Players who are unattached to clubs can move freely without the restriction of the transfer window, so there are plenty of players without a contract still in limbo with the season already underway.

Paul Clement has signed nine new players this summer, seven on permanent deals with two being temporary until the end of the season.

The high influx of players was to try and turn the club’s recent misfortunes around having only won two games under the new boss.

It will take time for the new players to settle and to learn what their manager wants, and with the international break, now comes the perfect time for them to work day-to-day and hopefully turn the club’s fortunes around

Failing that, here are six free agents that are still available for Reading to complete deals for.

Ross Wallace is a free agent since leaving Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season.

The tenacious 33-year-old, and former Scotland International has what Reading need in the final third.

Paul Clement’s side lacks end product, and creativity and Wallace has the delivery to give them what is missing.

A set-piece specialist with an eye for a pass would bring significant value to a Royals team struggling at present.

Bakary Sako has everything Reading lack.

Besides from Mo Barrow, Paul Clement’s side lacks width on the other flank, and all the work is left for the winger mentioned to create and provide.

The uneven workload means if he doesn’t deliver, Reading don’t either.

Signing Sako would add genuine pace and electricity to the opposite flank and make the Royals a more balanced outfit.

Conceding goals is an issue and Reading need to stop conceding them, the experience is needed to sure up their leaky defence.

Chris Baird can play in any position along the backline and is good in the air and can play the ball out from the back.

He would add extensive experience and know-how to a Reading side lacking in game management, awareness and being calm under pressure.

Reading need a player who can sit and hold and allow the forward players to push on and attack.

A lethargic tactic and monotonous tempo seem to be killing the Royals and adding a player like Rohan Ince could help them.

The defensive-minded midfielder is still only 25-years-old and has been without a club since his summer release from Brighton and Hove Albion.

It wouldn’t be a bad signing on a free.

The former Reading man left Rotherham at the end of the season after getting them up to the Championship.

He did the same with his previous club Millwall after a move from the Madejski Stadium in 2015.

Still only 29, Cummings has Championship experience and knows the club - he was there when they were going well - so maybe the injection of a familiar face could help slowly turn the club’s fortunes around.

It's worth a go, and wouldn’t be bad competition for Andy Yaidom, a summer signing from Barnsley.

The 32-year-old former Stoke player has Premier League and Championship experience from the midfield area.

Defensively minded and dependable in a tackle, he can also pick out key passes for forward players to attack.

His defensive contribution is something that would be of benefit to Reading as they look to become a more robust unit and try to stop going in one end and improve their proficiency at the other.
