The transfer windows may be closed, but there is still scope for clubs to make the latest of additions to their squads via the free agent route.

Players who are unattached to clubs can move freely without the restriction of the transfer window, and there are plenty of players without a contract still in limbo with the season already underway.

Frank Lampard has overseen the arrival of ten new players at Pride Park this summer, both permanently and on loan.

The Rams have started this season is fine form, currently fourth in the division having amassed 12 points from a possible 18.

Having been active in the transfer window, Lampard might still be seeking one or two more additions to bolster his squad further, just as insurance in case anything were to happen.

With that said, here are six free agents that are still available for Derby County to complete deals for.

The former West Bromwich Albion man left the Baggies at the end of the season after relegation to the Championship.

Without a club, and looking to get back into the thick of things in English football, he would add real steel to a youthful Derby County midfield.

His knowledge and understanding of the English game and his style of play would be well suited to the second-tier should Frank Lampard look to sign him.

Frank Lampard will know all about Glen Johnson after the pair were teammates at Chelsea.

With Jayden Bogle making his debut in recent weeks and picking up a knock, Andre Wisdom is the leading man at right-back.

Johnson’s experience could be vital for the young Bogle to work off of and with, and he would be another senior pro in the Derby dressing room with Premier League experience that would hold the team in good stead.

The defensive stalwart would add extensive rearguard experience to a Derby side who could do with another body to cover at the back.

The Rams have conceded the joint most in the top ten so cutting out goals against will be vital.

Collins could be that man.

If a potential move for the former QPR man doesn’t materialise, Frank Lampard should look no further than former Leicester defender Robert Huth.

The German behemoth would bring unrivalled experience and understanding of the game.

A move to the Championship that would be the perfect fit for him.

He would possibly command a starting place, and the knowledge he can disseminate around the club and the young players would be of great value.

The nippy winger is always a handful and with the system Frank Lampard delays at Pride Park, Kazenga Lua Lua could be a useful cog in the Rams’ machine.

The former Brighton and Sunderland man is still only 27-years-old, so it is hard to believe he is still without a club.

But he is, and the Derby boss should go after the free agent to add a little bit more guile and trickery to his side.

A little outlandish, granted,  but the 31-year-old former Manchester United and Fiorentina striker is currently without a club, and a move to work with Frank Lampard and his project might be somewhat tempting.

The former Italy international has been without a club since his summer exit from Italian side Genoa, and he still has what it takes to be an influence on games.

It would be some coup if the former England midfielder could pull off a shock move, and it would only have a positive effect should he reutrn to English football after 11 years away.
