Rotherham United's push for promotion is looking like a strong one as they head into their final ten games of this year's league campaign. 

The Millers are currently sat second in the League One table, and will fancy their chances of making a return to the Championship at the first time of asking this term.

Paul Warne's side are just two points adrift of league-leaders Coventry City, but they'll be well-aware of the threat posed from the teams below them in the third-tier standings, as seventh-placed Oxford United are just five points adrift of Rotherham.

One player that has played a key role in their promotion bid to date is Michael Smith, who has hit nine league goals so far this season.

Smith has made 40 appearances in total for Rotherham this season, and he's showing that he can still cut it at this level, and has netted 12 goals in all competitions for the Millers.

He has formed an impressive partnership alongside Freddie Ladapo in attack, and that has been key to Rotherham's strong league campaign to date.

Smith has also chipped in with three assists this term, and he'll be confident in adding to that tally as the season heads towards a conclusion in a couple of months time.

The forward has won 599 duels so far this season as well, which certainly makes for impressive reading when he's also won 308 aerial duels to date, which shows that he's more than capable of matching opposition defenders when it comes to battling for the ball in the air.

But Smith has also shown that he can bring his Rotherham team-mates into the game, as shown by his passing statistics from this season.

The forward has been successful in 477 out of the 719 passes he has attempted for the Millers this term in all competitions, which certainly makes for good reading.

Smith has certainly made a positive impact with Rotherham so far this season, and Paul Warne will be hoping he can count on the fans favourite to fire them to promotion back into the Championship.
