Sheffield United completed the deadline day signing for Conor Washington on a free transfer after the striker’s contract at Queens Park Rangers was terminated by mutual consent.

The 26-year-old penned a one-year deal at Bramall Lane after coming to terms on his release from the London club.

Washington signed for the Hoops two years ago from Peterborough United and scored 14 goals in 98 league appearances.

The Northern Ireland international swaps third bottom with third top with his move to the Blades, and came on to make his debut in the final nine minutes of the Blades’ impressive 4-1 win over Aston Villa.

That result lifted Chris Wilder’s men to third in the division, two points off league leaders Leeds.

With that said, here at FLW, we asked Queens Park Rangers supporters if it was a good or bad move to let Washington leave the club.

In what was a pretty close run poll, the result saw 59 per cent of the vote conclude that it was indeed a bad move for the striker to depart Loftus Road.

On the other hand with the loan arrivals of Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells, 41 per cent felt that allowing the former Posh forward to move on to pastures new was the correct decision.

It remains to be seen how either club fair with and without Washington at their disposal with over six games of the season gone.

It will, however, be an interesting sub-plot to this season’s iteration of the Championship.
