Paul McGrath is expecting Aston Villa to bounce back this weekend against Bolton Wanderers, with the Villa Park legend predicting a victory in this evening’s contest.

Steve Bruce’s side saw their automatic promotion hopes take a huge hit during the week, with Queens Park Rangers recording a 3-1 victory at Villa Park, which left Villa seven points adrift of the top-two ahead of this weekend.

Villa travel to the Macron Stadium in today’s evening kick-off, with Bruce’s side looking for a return to winning ways against the struggling Trotters.

McGrath, 58, is expecting Villa to pick up a much-needed victory in Lancashire, taking to Twitter to deliver his prediction ahead of this afternoon:

Bruce will be looking to mastermind a return to winning ways this evening, but is faced with a tricky selection dilemma in defence, with Alan Hutton, Neil Taylor and Axel Tuanzebe all missing.

That lengthy injury list has opened the door for James Bree, who is expected to earn a chance at left-back, with both Hutton and Taylor sidelined.

The Verdict

McGrath is confident and has every right to be, particularly with how Villa have responded to setbacks over the course of this season.

Bruce’s side will have been disappointed with Tuesday evening, but have an instant chance to put that right and go into next week’s international break full of confidence.
