Middlesbrough are reported to be closing in on a deal to sign a replacement for Darren Randolph.

The 32-year-old has moved to West Ham United for an undisclosed fee,  just two-and-a-half years after moving to the North East from the Hammers.

Randolph was expected to complete the move last week but the move stalled after West Ham had concerns over the goalkeeper's medical results.

The stopper had been out of action for almost two months with a thigh injury, but those worries have now been subsided with the move officially completed.

A replacement for Randolph appears to be on the way with Teamtalk reporting that Middlesbrough have agreed a deal for Dejan Stojanovic.

The 26-year-old is said to be closing in on a £1million deal with the goalkeeper's contract with Swiss side St Gallen running out in the summer.

But why are the Teessiders so convinced that the Macedonian is the man to replace their previous number one? We take a look at his numbers from last term.

Dejan Stojanovic enjoyed a decent season with St Gallen last term as they finished sixth in the Swiss Super League - narrowly missing out on a spot in this season's Europa League.

The 26-year-old made 39 appearances last term and conceded 57 goals, averaging around 1.46 goals conceded per game.

Based on the quality and quantity of the shots faced, Stojanovic was expected to concede 51.37 goals during these 39 games, meaning that his record is slightly worse than what was expected.

Despite that the goalkeeper made 112 saves in total and achieved nine clean sheets for St Gallen.

Stojanovic is a commanding presence as he stands at 6 ft 5 inches tall, but for a big fella he has decent technical grasp of the game.

He achieved an average of 79.3% pass accuracy - a percentage which is pretty impressive given his position in the team.

This will no doubt be a big plus for Jonathan Woodgate as he looks to potentially recruit a goalkeeper who can contribute to the team's possession play.
