West Brom's relegation from the Premier League is likely to be confirmed this weekend after a largely disastrous season for the West Midlands side.

Even if they manage to somehow survive another week, the fans will have resigned themselves to the fact that they will be in the Championship next season.

The club clearly have, sacking Alan Pardew and making several changes higher up. However, they're yet to appoint a permanent manager.

Whilst Darren Moore has to be in consideration for the role given the very good job he has done as caretaker, the hierarchy may not think he is ready for such a role.

However, one man who is ready for a Championship job is Shrewsbury's Paul Hurst.

He has turned the relegation favourites into serious promotion candidates and whilst they've fallen short in terms of finishing in the top two, the reality is to even get Salop near Wigan and Blackburn was an outstanding achievement.

Even if they fail in the play-offs, Hurst's job should be appreciated and recognised by clubs higher up. And, he also did very well at Grimsby Town before joining the League One side.

He has built a young, hungry side, giving players a chance from the lower leagues and creating a strong spirit and determination within the group.

Given the season that Albion have had, that's exactly what they need. They have an ageing squad and the actions of certain players in the past suggests they care very little about the club.

Hurst could be the new voice to remove that from the dressing room and to create a positive identity that fans can relate to, whilst also getting results.

West Brom have gone down by employing the same old, experienced faces, therefore it's time to try something new and Paul Hurst is the man they could signify a new approach at The Hawthorns.
