Former Leeds United boss Simon Grayson has backed Marcelo Bielsa’s side to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero according to the Daily Star.
The Yorkshire-based side are currently sat top of the Championship table, and will be hoping they can hold their nerve in the race for promotion into the Premier League this season.
Leeds are also seven points clear of third-placed Fulham in the second tier standings, although their push for promotion has been put on hold due to recent off-the-field events.
It could be an interesting summer transfer window ahead if they are to make a long-awaited return to the top-flight this term, with the Elland Road faithful desperate to see their side competing in the Premier League again.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Star, Grayson admitted that the potential of playing for Marcelo Bielsa will be a tempting prospect for a number of players, as well as playing in front of the impressive Leeds United supporters.
“If Leeds get back to the Premier League, playing for the club is an exciting prospect for anybody.
“They’ll be attracting players from all other globe – regardless of whether they’re Argentinian or playing for Manchester United. Getting in front of the Elland Road faithful and working for Bielsa is a massive proposition.”
Romero has struggled for regular minutes with Manchester United due to the impressive showings of David De Gea meaning that the Argentine has been restricted to just 14 appearances in all competitions this term, all of which have come in cup competitions.
Grayson went on to state that Leeds won’t have trouble attracting players to the club in the summer, and felt as though they’ll have two separate transfer plans already in place.
“It won’t be an issue attracting players. They’ll be having recruitment meetings – Bielsa, Victor Orta and Angus Kinnear.
“There will be two lists at this moment in time. One for if they make the Premier League and one for the worst-case scenario of staying in the Championship.”

It’s a good suggestion!
Romero isn’t getting the game time he needs with Manchester United, and Leeds are likely to be in the market looking for another goalkeeper next season.
I’ve not been convinced at all by the performances of Kiko Casilla this season, and it might be too soon to throw Illan Meslier into the starting XI on a regular basis if they’re playing their football in the Premier League next term.
It’s certainly going to be an interesting summer transfer window ahead for Leeds, that’s for sure.
