Bradford City certainly haven't had the ideal start to the New Year, with the Bantams suffering a slump in recent form to see them drop down the League Two table.

The Bantams are without a win in their last seven games, and were convincingly beaten 3-0 by Oldham Athletic on Saturday, which led to the club parting company with manager Gary Bowyer.

He leaves Bradford City sat eighth in the fourth tier standings, and the club haven't wasted any time in appointing his successor this month.

They recently announced that Stuart McCall has returned to Valley Parade for his fourth spell in charge of the club, which has seemingly gone down well with the club's supporters.

But with the January transfer window now closed, McCall will have to make do with the signings that Bowyer made before being relieved of his duties at Valley Parade.

We take a look at FIVE transfer regrets that the Bantams might have heading into the second-half of this year's campaign.

Matty Palmer had put in a number of impressive displays for the Bantams, and you would have imagined that the club's supporters would have been keen to see him extend his loan spell with Bradford until the end of the season.

But the midfielder was recalled by Rotherham United from his loan spell, and was sold to Swindon Town on a permanent deal.

Bradford will surely regret not doing more in trying to convince him to extend his stay with them, but this hasn't been the case.

It certainly didn't come as a surprise to see Bradford recall Eoin Doyle from his loan spell with League Two promotion rivals Swindon Town.

The forward netted 23 goals for the Robins before having his loan spell cut short, but Bradford opted to sell Doyle to Swindon permanently, which certainly won't have gone down well with the Valley Parade faithful.

He could prove to be the difference in promotion and remaining in League Two for another season.

Kurtis Guthrie signed from Stevenage on Deadline Day in January, and you have to feel as though he could be somewhat of a 'panic buy' by the Bantams.

With them losing both Eoin Doyle and James Vaughan, they quickly acted to bring in replacements late into the January transfer window.

But Guthrie only has five goals to his name this season, and given that he's been playing his football for bottom of League Two side Stevenage, there will rightly be questions asked into this deal.

Bradford's success in the first-half of the season was built on the fact that they were strong in defence, but that hasn't been the case since the turn of the year.

The Bantams have only kept two clean sheets in their last eight league games, which show that there was certainly potential to sign a defender or two in January.

Stuart McCall will have to address this issue at the earliest of opportunities if they're to stand any chance of winning promotion back into League One at the first time of asking.

James Vaughan was Bradford City's top goalscorer, so it certainly came as a surprise to see him being loaned out before the January transfer window reached a conclusion.

Vaughan had nine goals to his name for the Bantams, but joined League One side Tranmere Rovers on loan for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Bradford signed Lee Novak as his replacement on Deadline Day, and with the former Scunthorpe United striker only having six goals to his name this term, questions will be asked as to whether he is a good enough replacement for Vaughan this season.
