Carlos Carvalhal has done an excellent job with Sheffield Wednesday, though something about the Owls isn't quite clinical enough.

They've been one of the surprise packages of the season and are hoping to consolidate a place in the playoffs as the season draws to a close, opening up the possibility of an unlikely return to the Premier League.

Clearly, there is an abundance of talent in the ranks at Hillsborough, though it's hard to ever truly trust them to see out games.

Whatever division the Owls find themselves in next term, it's imperative manager Carlos Carvalhal adds more solidity throughout the side, while retaining some of the attacking impetus that has served him so well during his opening 50 odd games in charge.

He'd therefore be well advised to cast his eye towards White Hart Lane. Spurs have excelled in the top tier of English football by perfecting that mix and could have some of the players available on loan that can help Wednesday find similar joy in that respect.

While Mauricio Pochettino is rightly lauded for his willingness to promote youth in his ranks, it's fair to say the arrival of Champions League football could open up the possibility of seeing some of the talented youngsters yet to break the first-team be afforded the chance to leave on loan.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

Tom Lees has been linked with a move away from the city of steel due to the manner of his performances for the Owls next season.

Whether the defender leaves or not, Wednesday would be well advised to make a move for young American defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The 18-year old is extremely highly rated by his parent club and would serve either as a wonderful replacement for Lees OR as a formidable partner.

Strong, fast and easy on the ball, some time developing his reading of the game could see CVC become a truly top class defender.

Harry Winks

While the current crop of central midfielders have done little wrong under Carvalhal and the return of Sam Hutchinson will come as a major boost, Spurs have in their ranks a deep-lying playmaker of top quality.

As the club look to see out games, they could do with a man who can operate in the 'quarterback' role, dropping deep to retain position and ease transitions on the counter attack.

Harry Winks excels in that respect and can count himself unlucky Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele have been so formidable this season.

The 20-year old is wonderfully gifted in his passing range, able to play the deeper role or even push up and act as a traditional 'Number 6'.

Josh Onomah

Josh Onomah

Josh Onomah has been blooded into the first-team on a reasonably regular basis this season, as well as signing a new four-year deal with the club.

Clearly, he's highly rated in North London and looks to have a bright future at White Hart Lane.

However, the midfielder can expect some pretty big names to walk through the door now Spurs are all but certain to land Champions League football.

Perhaps then, he could be afforded the chance to leave on loan.

He's been mightily impressive as a central midfield powerhouse, able to compete ferociously in the middle of the park just as easily as he is able to find space in the final third.

Onomah is without doubt a huge prospect and should be looked in to.

Alex Pritchard

Yes, Alex Pritchard is on loan at Premier League side West Bromwich Albion. That would suggest a move back to the Championship (maybe) is unlikely for the highly rated England under-21 international.

However, injuries have derailed his progress since excelling on loan with Brentford during his last stint in the second tier.

The 22-year old is at his best when afforded a freer role across the attacking line, able to cover ground in the final third effectively while retaining some of the creative spark that can get the best out of Wednesday's forward runners.

He was excellent for Brentford and perhaps a move back down to that level is what he needs to get some momentum back.

DeAndre Yedlin

While Jack Hunt has been solid enough at right-back for Wednesday, the 25-year old could certainly do with both cover and competition in equal measure.

American international DeAndre Yedlin has seen his career stall somewhat since Brazil 2014, though has recently found form while on loan with Sunderland.

If the Owls ultimately make it to the Promised Land, moving for the 22-year old speedster would be an astute addition in preparation.

Full-backs in the top tier are expected to be lighting quick and able to fly up and down the wings, something Yedlin has been proving he can do well in recent months.

As he crafts a more astute reading of the game, the USA starlet would certainly be a popular addition at Hillsborough.
