Carlos Carvalhal has done an excellent job with Sheffield Wednesday, though something about the Owls isn’t quite clinical enough.
They’ve been one of the surprise packages of the season and are hoping to consolidate a place in the playoffs as the season draws to a close, opening up the possibility of an unlikely return to the Premier League.
Clearly, there is an abundance of talent in the ranks at Hillsborough, though it’s hard to ever truly trust them to see out games.
Whatever division the Owls find themselves in next term, it’s imperative manager Carlos Carvalhal adds more solidity throughout the side, while retaining some of the attacking impetus that has served him so well during his opening 50 odd games in charge.
He’d therefore be well advised to cast his eye towards White Hart Lane. Spurs have excelled in the top tier of English football by perfecting that mix and could have some of the players available on loan that can help Wednesday find similar joy in that respect.
While Mauricio Pochettino is rightly lauded for his willingness to promote youth in his ranks, it’s fair to say the arrival of Champions League football could open up the possibility of seeing some of the talented youngsters yet to break the first-team be afforded the chance to leave on loan.
