Huddersfield Town have had a mediocre season with few highlights and it looks like they will finish low in the bottom half.

Still Huddersfield fans will be grateful for their relatively comfortable survival this season which looked in doubt earlier in the season, when Chris Powell was in charge.

Huddersfield failed to win any of their first six games and when Chris Powell was sacked in early November he left the side just five points above the drop zone.

Since the arrival of manager David Wagner, Huddersfield have certainly played better football but with limited results, there have been a series of disappointments like there 2-0 home defeat to Middlesbrough where they dominated much of the game, and also there thrashings at home to Leeds and away to Reading in the FA Cup.

But there have been much improved performances and results marked by their impressive demolition of Charlton and recent win over Leeds.

Huddersfield fans will be optimistic that under Wagner they can challenge for the play-offs next season with some new signings, if they keep their key players.

Huddersfield are on a bad run at the moment but their point at home to Hull was certainly well earned, and they are only seven points off the top half as they look for a flourish.

Wagner will need to strengthen the defence in the summer who have leaked 59 goals this season and also sign some more industrious midfielder,s making sure he has good enough players to implement the 'gegenpress'.

Maybe the most important thing for Wagner is to keep hold of star striker Nakhi Wells who has 16 goals this season making him one of the most prolific in the division and interest will be high.

With record numbers of season tickets being bought for next season there is plenty of optimism and some new signings will put them in a good place to challenge.

There are some good youngsters at Tottenham in need of first team football, so here are FIVE youngsters that should consider moving to Huddersfield next season to help bolster their play-off challenge......

Harry Winks

Harry Winks

The 20-year-old Tottenham midfielder has had limited opportunities to impress at Tottenham this season, as the North London side make a tilt at the title.

He mad 1 substitute appearance against Qarabag earlier in the season but other than that he has been playing in the youth side.

He has been capped by England at youth level and has shown promise, but his chances of breaking into the solid Tottenham midfield look slim to none in the next few years.

Winks offers a potent attacking threat and good defensive work and would fit well into the system that Wagner is attempting to implement.

Tom Carroll

carroll222

The 23-year-old midfielder has been on the fringes of the Tottenham side for a while now and has made 24 appearances for them with one goal against Norwich this season.

But his time at Tottenham has been dominated by loan spells at Championship sides Derby, QPR and Swansea, but he has failed to impress.

With him failing to consolidate his place at Tottenham a move away is likely in the summer and Huddersfield will be keen on bolstering their midfield options.

Carroll has represented England at youth levels so has plenty of promise.

Cameron Carter Vickers

Cameron Carter-Vickers

The American defender is only 18- year-old and is a mainstay in the USA youth teams.

Carter Vickers has impressed for the youth team at White Hart Lane and now needs some first team football at a good level, if he is to push for a place in the summer.

Huddersfield have been leaky at the back this season conceding 59 goals and Wagner will be keen to strengthen them this summer, if he is to implement the gegenpress which requires a strong defence.

Carter Vickers will be keen on first team football at a good level in an exciting project.

Nathan Oduwa

Oduwa

Oduwa is an exciting young winger at Tottenham with a number of impressive loan spells under his belt.

He impressed for Rangers earlier in the season scoring a controversial rainbow flick, which opponents Alloa called disrespectful and after a series of impressive displays for the Scottish Championship winners, including plenty of assists and winning penalties Rangers tried to sign him on a permanent, but Tottenham cut the deal short and Colchester signed him on loan for the rest of the season.

Josh Onomah

Another likely loan signing for Huddersfield in the summer is talented midfielder Josh Onomah.

Onomah has been on the fringes of the first team and has been given a few starts in the cups and European games.

He has been given some caps for the England team at youth level scoring 4 goals and 9 games and has played some part in their very successful Premier League campaign so far.

He needs some first team football and Huddersfield will give Onomah this.
