Hull are one of the best sides in the league and possess one of the best managers in the league, as well as one of the best squads in the league.

There superiority hasn't told yet but at the time of writing, they do sit in second position just a point off leaders Burnley and it would be a brave man to bet against them scooping the crown.

They have turned the KC Stadium into a fortress this season and possess the best home record in the division.

Being one of the favourites to go up is no promise of anything but Hull are delivering and are about where they expected to be.

They have the best defence in the league joint with Middlesbrough with Dawson perhaps the finest centre back in the division whilst wing backs Robertson and Odubajo have been excellent too.

Their industrious midfield of Huddlestone and Livermore has been solid too with Diame also an important part of it.

With Abel Hernandez up front they have one of the best strikers in the league, and he gets good service from the surrounding Clucas, Elmohamady and the returning Robert Snodgrass.

There strength in depth is enviable with players like David Meyler on the bench and the different systems Bruce can play them in he is spoilt for choice.

Here are FIVE things we've learn from Hull's season so far.......

Fortress KC

They have been excellent at home this season with only one defeat there all year, suffered at the hands of promotion rivals Derby.

They have also only conceded six goals there which is the second best home defence in the division behind only Middlesbrough.

Their imposing set up often results in teams parking the bus at Hull and they have handed out a few hidings this season, like their resounding 3-0 win over Middlesbrough to their 6-0 triumph over beleaguered Charlton.

Whilst they also have the second best away record turning your home into a fortress will be vital to the promotion bid if teams fear coming there.

Hernandez proves a revelation

Hernandez arrived at Hull last season in the Premier League, but he really flopped for them, scoring a couple of goals and he was expected to move away in the summer.

But he chose to stay at Hull and repay the faith the fans had in him and he has been excellent for them this season.

The club's main source of goals with 16 he pulls all the strings and some fans don't know who would score the goals if he didn't.

Excellent defence

Every good promotion bid needs to be built on a solid defensive foundation and Hull have exactly that.

Centre backs Dawson and Curtis Davies have both been excellent this season, and Hull have the best defence in the Championship joint with Middlesbrough having only conceded 19 goals.

Robertson has been excellent at left back as Hull continue to fend off big money interest from Arsenal for him, and Odubajo has been as solid as he was for Brenford last year.

They rarely make a mistake with the wing backs having good attacking and defensive capabilities.

They also have good cover in these positions and the strength in depth must make them one of the favourites for promotion.

Industrious midfield

Like Middlesbrough, Hull have a couple of options in the centre of the park when it come to arrangement but the preferred one seems to be Livermore and Diame.

Livermore is a more solid defensive player who has been excellent this season whilst Diame or Huddlestone gives them more of an attacking impetus.

They have excellent ability to pick a pass and make incisive runs whilst Livermore protects the defence.

Middlesbrough have a similiar set up with Leadbitter and Clayton as there defensive partnership and then they add Forshaw for more attacking impetus.

Also the work of wingers Elmohamady and Clucas have been essential to there success so far.

An experienced head knows best

It would be hard to argue that Steve Bruce is the best manager in the division, as season after he season he spends in this division he always delivers results.

He knows how to get out of this league after doing it with Hull before, and his experience is far in advance to his rival managers.

He gets his tactics spot on every game with the excellent defence being set up by him and the typical hard working midfield in front of them.
