Sunderland have had a decade to forget where they have plummeted from the top flight to the third tier - League One.

The Black Cats started the decade with the better of their rivals Newcastle, but the two are now very different, two divisions apart, albeit both with problems off the pitch.

Over that time though Sunderland have had some memorable kits, with the classic red and white stripes very recognisable.

The Stadium of Light still continues to be packed with fans in shirts, which is a rarity in some modern grounds.

Here, we look at five of their kits from the last decade, ranked from the ones we dislike the most, to the ones we take a fondness to for one reason or another.

Do you agree, or can you think of other kits that were either beautiful or horrible to look at? Let us know in the comments.

2012-13

This is probably our least favourite kit of the last decade at the Stadium of Light.

It was Sunderland’s one and only season with ‘Invest in Africa’ as the sponsor, and we were also not fond of the all red sleeves.

2018-19

This seasons kit introduced red socks, as well as a new sponsor, and we are really not convinced by the whole design.

When looking back in ten years, this won’t be a particularly memorable one.

2014-15

We can’t make our mind up on this kit. On the one hand, the striped shoulders look good, but we are not sure about the gold tint.

2017-18

The only thing stopping last season's Sunderland kit from being a favourite is the fact it will be remembered for the worst season in their history, when they got relegated.

The slimmer stripes add something different to the kit, and the black socks are preferable over red.

2010-11

This is our favourite Sunderland kit of recent times.

It couples the aesthetic design with memories of good times for Sunderland fans, in particular, with frequent wins over Newcastle in the Premier League.
