For the past six months, the club have been under scrutiny for their lack of firepower in front of goal that evidently cost them a place in the top six last season.

The departures of Joe Mason and Kenwyne Jones in January has been a widely debated topic after the club had to sell the pair to weigh up their finances.

Trollope has brought in Kenneth Zohore, Frederic Gounongbe and Lex Immers over the summer to try and bring goals to South Wales, but whether they have the capabilities to do that remains a question.

Paul Trollope has recently indicated that he is looking to bring in three more signings before the end of the window, and the Bluebirds fans will be eager for their boss to bring a striker to South Wales, who is going re-ignite the excitement back to the Welsh capital and pose a significant threat up front.

Football League World Writer, Ashley Williams identifies FIVE striker who would be perfect for Cardiff City..

Kyle Lafferty

The Welsh side are seeking a forward and it is understood Lafferty is on their radar, although no bid has been made as yet.

Former Rangers forward Lafferty was a talisman for his country as he scored seven goals in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign to help Northern Ireland to their first finals tournament in 30 years.

His club appearances have been more contrasting, as he has played just five times for Norwich between this season and last, with a loan spell at Birmingham giving him six more games.

If he continued his international form with Cardiff City, he could be an excellent coup for the club.

Nahki Wells

The Huddersfield forward proved last season that he is a force to be reckoned with in the Championship after netting 18 goals.

Wells is on the radar of clubs like Aston Villa, but Cardiff should get in there before the Midlands club.

Wells would add something different to Cardiff’s style of play with his pace.

The striker also doesn't appear to be a natural first choice at the Terriers with Elias Kachunga seeming to be David Wagner's primary attacker.

Wells would bring the excitement back to Cardiff and he would certainly bang in the goals for the Welsh club.

Scott Hogan

Hogan has struggled with injury since arriving at Brentford from Rochdale in 2014, missing 12 months due to serious cruciate knee ligament injuries.

However, at the back end of last season, he netted seven goals in the Bees final seven games and picked up the player of the year award for April.

Hogan has attracted a lot of attention with Hull and Derby monitoring his situation.

If Cardiff stoop up some cash, Hogan could be worth a punt and be a great addition to their side.

Ched Evans

Ched Evans

Although this could be a controversial decision, Ched Evans has proved that his time away from football hasn’t affected him after netting four goals in four games for Chesterfield so far.

If he carries on his form, he will gain the respect back from supporters after receiving a large amount of criticism from fans in his first few games in League One.

Evans is Welsh born and bred, and could be a great goal source for Cardiff if he was given the chance.

Adam Armstrong

Although the 19-year-old forward put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at St James Park this week, it doesn’t mean that he will feature regularly for the North East club this season.

Dwight Gayle has been in excellent form and with the likes of Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic standing in the wings, Benitez could pave the way for Armstrong to go out on loan.

The Spaniard boss does put Armstrong in his high regard after netting 20 goals for Coventry City during a loan spell last season.

The young striker could be the missing link in Cardiff’s squad.
