Leeds United are sure to have a very busy summer as Paul Heckingbottom looks to reshape his squad so that they can challenge for promotion next season.

That was the aim at Elland Road back in August but things didn't go to plan with a terrible second half of the campaign meaning Leeds finished in the bottom half.

A key reason for their failings was poor recruitment, with important players such as Rob Green, Kyle Bartley and Charlie Taylor not suitably replaced.

Yet, the biggest error came in trying to replace Chris Wood. He was the star man for the Whites and hit 27 Championship goals in the 2016/17 season.

After he was sold to Burnley, several new players arrived but none made an impact like the New Zealand striker.

Therefore, a new number nine will be a priority this summer and here we look at five they should be going for...

Leeds are reported to be one of several clubs interested in the striker and it would be a great move for the Yorkshire club.

He hit 27 goals last season in League One and is ready for the step up. Marriott is a natural finisher and exactly what they need.

The former Huddersfield man moved to Burnley last summer but hasn't had a chance to impress at Turf Moor.

A move back to the Championship seems inevitable, a division Wells has proven himself in many times before. Has the pace and movement to thrive in front of Leeds creative midfielders.

The striker is on-loan at Wolves but won't be getting a permanent deal at Molineux.

Whilst the goals alarmingly dried up from Decemeber for Bonatini, it was his first season in English football and he still made a big contribution.

He has the technique to suit Leeds style.

The out of contract Hull striker would be a magnificent capture for Leeds and they are interested in him.

The Uruguay international is powerful, quick and clinical in front of goal.

If Heckingbottom is looking for a big powerful striker then Okaka could be the answer.

He excels with his back to goal and could bring the midfielders into the game. He struggles to regularly play for Watford and could be available in the summer.

The former Anderlecht man isn't prolific in the top-flight but he has more than enough quality to score regularly in the second tier.
