After making his competitive debut for West Ham United back in 2011, Joey O'Brien has made over 90 appearances for the Premier League side.

However, with an injury-ridden career, he has failed to establish any sustained role at right-back in Slaven Bilic's team thus far this campaign.

And, having watched his native Republic of Ireland qualify for the European Championships in 2015, he will certainly be looking to finish the season on a high to put himself in contention when Martin O'Neill picks his squad for France.

The question is, where will Joey O'Brien look to go as the loan window closes later this month?

Wolves

Having conceded nine goals in their last five and losing four of those games, Kenny Jackett's side look to be in need of stability at the back to boost their hopes of finishing the season on a high.

Although they seem to be heading towards a fairly sterile end to the campaign, the Wolves boss has consistently looked to strengthen his side after the departure of striker Benik Afobe to Bournemouth.

Therefore, Joey O'Brien could be the right fit for the Midlands club.

He's in desperate need of game time and Wolves are in need of some Premier League quality, is this one only a matter of time before it happens?

Cardiff City

Unlike Wolves, Cardiff City are on the verge of something special this season as they sit just outside of the play-offs on goal difference with 11 fixtures remaining.

A winning team is just what O'Brien could do with fitting into right now.

His confidence must be very low with limited game time and this Cardiff side could be the uplift he is so dearly craving. They have won two of their last three games, only losing to Middlesbrough on that run.

To me, this looks like it could be the perfect fit for the Irishman, as long as he is willing to put in the hours to get into an in-form starting XI.

Fulham

Fulham are another side, like Wolves, who are struggling for consistency in their performances in the last few weeks. The last four results have summed it up really - winning one, drawing one and losing two.

Whilst in the midst of a battle at the wrong end of the Sky Bet Championship, Fulham will count themselves lucky they are not quite in the financial mess of Bolton Wanderers or Charlton Athletic, otherwise they could well be in the bottom three with the inconsistency they have shown in the 2015/2016 season.

Nevertheless, it is very unlikely that Fulham will be dragged into a relegation battle with a seven point advantage over Rotherham United in 22nd. Although, like any football team, they will know that the battle isn't over until it's mathematically impossible.

O'Brien could well be a fit here given the London location and the prestige of such a historic football club.

But, history and practicalities aside, O'Brien wants first team football, week in week out. And, maybe, that's what Slavisa Jokanovic can give him.

Birmingham City

Similarly to Fulham, Gary Rowett's men have won two, draw one and lost one in their last four league matches, but victory over Hull City on Thursday night reignites their play-off push.

After their 2-0 defeat to QPR on Saturday, the Birmingham gaffer described their first half performance as 'incredibly poor' and lacking 'fluidity'. The result meant they were unable to move within two points of the play-off places.

With conceding a number of goals, a defensive presence could be something for Rowett to consider. An experienced Premier League defender could do the job, who better than Joey O'Brien?

This one could certainly happen as strength in depth is definitely a key element of any winning side, and Birmingham City will look to have that as they compete for a top six finish towards the end of the season.

Derby County

After the sacking of Paul Clement last month, many expected a resurgence from Derby, but that has struggled to happen. They have only won two of their last four after defeat to Wolves last Saturday.

The main worry for the Derby head coach Darren Wassall is the fact that they are yet to put a meaningful unbeaten run together which would help with their promotion chances.

Perhaps the resolution to their issue is some Premier League experience that can help them make that all important step up to the country's top division. As I've already stated, O'Brien would be the man for the majority of teams in the Championship.

However, I think Derby could do with his experience and know-how the most, given the promising position the club still find themselves in.
