5 shots, 6 aerial duels won: The Leeds United man out to impress Heckingbottom

The arrival of Paul Heckingbottom means that another new era for Leeds United and there is another new man for the squad at Elland Road to impress.

Every player should start with a clean slate under Heckingbottom and it was Pierre-Michel Lasogga who got the nod to lead the attack in the former Barnsley manager’s first game in charge of the club.

It didn’t quite go as planned for Leeds or Heckingbottom as they conceded an early goal – Billy Sharp’s stunning volley after some poor defending – and ended up losing the match against their high-flying Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United 2-1.

Lasogga had a good individual game however, netting the Leeds goal with a superb, powerful header, winning his fair share of aerial battles and getting his shots away.

We’ve run the numbers on his performance and the stats show that, if he can keep performing in this way, he should earn the right to be the spearhead of the Leeds attack under Heckingbottom moving forward.
