Preston North End secured their first three points of the season since the opening day thanks to an emphatic win last Saturday.

Alex Neil’s men recorded a resounding 4-0 victory against Wigan Athletic at Deepdale to lift themselves off the foot of the table.

It was a massive win for the Lancashire side heading into the two-week international break before the Championship resumes with an away trip to the team who replaced them at the bottom of the table, Hull City.

One player who shined for the hosts this past weekend was Callum Robinson.

The 23-year-old striker notched his fourth goal in the league this season and Preston’s second of the afternoon in a solid display.

Robinson started and completed the fixture, playing the full 90 minutes last weekend.

Playing on the left of a three-man attack behind sole striker Lukas Nmecha, the Republic of Ireland international had five shots on goal, with his goal being the only one on target.

Two were blocked, and the other two were off the mark.

He managed 55 touches during the afternoon and was predominantly venturing inside.

With a more substantial presence there than out on the left-hand side, he was an avenue to get involved in the match and offer an attacking outlet.

Robinson made a total of 23 passes and completed 17 of them, averaging a pass success rate of 74 per cent for the afternoon. He managed to make two key passes, too.

One dribble was completed out of the two the 23-year-old attempted, and the Preston man was on corner duty, taking five, with 60 per cent of those being accurate.

Robinson was dispossessed six times, made one error and one foul during the match, he was also caught offside twice.

Despite those failings, the attacker had a pretty solid afternoon and was able to grab a goal that complimented his overall perforce in the emphatic win over Wigan Athletic to lift them off the bottom of the table.
