Derby County sent a message out to the rest of the Championship last night with a resounding 4-1 victory at the Hawthorns.

West Brom were blown away as Frank Lampard's side registered another impressive win, with four goals all coming from different players. It was a comprehensive victory that will cause Darren Moore headaches but will give the Rams plenty to build upon in the coming weeks.

They're just two points from the top of the table now, tied on 24 with three other sides including the vanquished Baggies.

One player who has been impressive this season is former Leicester and Ipswich midfielder Tom Lawrence. He played a key role in the win, making him the focus of our latest FLW Spotlight piece.

The 24-year-old put in a cracking performance against the Baggies, showing exactly why he was such a capture when he arrived at Pride Park. Last season he struggled to shine under Gary Rowett, but with the England legend Lampard watching over him, he's gone from strength to strength.

He played the full 90 minutes of last night's resounding win, bagging himself a goal. It was always likely given the number of shots he has, totalling five efforts in the game. For a midfielder that is an impressive amount and says as much about his prowess as a possible number ten as it does his midfield capabilities.

West Brom might have tried to stop him by fouling if they could, but he had too much pace for Chris Brunt in the centre of the park. He was fouled once, but that was the only time they managed to catch him.

If they had caught him more they might have dented his immense passing ability too. He might be a danger going forward, but his distribution was spot on last night too. He made 38 passes, with a tremendous success rate of 87%. That is unnerving accuracy with his delivery.

He also made two key passes, passes which lead to a chance, another key element of his game. Few players make two or more key passes in a game and it underlines Lawrence's huge potential.

He can pass, he can shoot and he can create. If that isn't the perfect player for Frank Lampard to develop further, we don't know who is.
