Sheffield United are one of the biggest clubs in League One and also boast one of the largest fan bases.

They always seem to be near the top but to make that final breakthrough, which would be promotion to the Championship.

Under the assured leadership of Nigel Adkins this season, they will certainly be hoping that he can lead them there and with a host of talented players in the club, not many would put it past them.

Sheffield United seem to have a good blend this season of very good young talent and experience, which is something that bodes well for the Blades.

After the disappointment of last season of losing in the play-off semi-finals to Swindon they look to make the final step this season.

So far this season, they have made a steady start and sit in eighth position, just three points off the play-offs, but it is too early to be thinking about them now.

Perhaps if they fail to get promotion they should sell some players to give them some financial power to make themselves even more competitive next season.

In the opinion of FLW's Michael Hasan, here's FIVE Blades players should sell in order to do this.....

Jose Baxter

The young attacker was arguably one of England's finest young prospects when at Everton, and this made Sheffield United take a chance on him.

He scored 10 goals last season and is off the mark this season, so will be an important player for them.

There is interest at the higher levels though which would interest Baxter and Sheffield United, who would probably want to invest in a more prolific striker which is something they lack.

He will surely attract a seven figure sum and make a good profit for the club, but they should only do this if they do not go up.

The former Peterborough defender is undoubtedly competent at League One level, but maybe not for one of the top clubs.

He has had a very disappointing spell at Sheffield United and has been kept away from the first team.

The defender is currently on loan at Doncaster Rovers and he has been disappointing for them, so far so it is difficult to imagine that he has a future at Bramall Lane.

But it is fathomable that he has a future in League One at a lower down club given his experience at that level.

Che Adams

This may be someone they leave for a few years before they consider selling, but in Adams they possess a great prospect.

He has six goals in nine games this season and is still a teenager, he burst on to the season impressively last year with two quick-fire goals in the Capital One Cup semi-final match against Tottenham, and has impressed ever since.

Whilst he should probably get a few extra years at Sheffield United to get first team football, and experience he will undoubtedly attract a sizeable fee in the future.

The Scottish midfielder is still only 22 and yet has a lot of experience for Sheffield United ,including scoring in a FA Cup semi final.

But he has yet to make an impression in the league for them, and the current Scotland under-21 is undoubtedly set to be a talent in the future.

United would be wise to sell for a sevem figure fee and bring in a more goalscoring midfielder with more experience at this level.

Jamal Campbell Ryce

It's hard to envisage the Jamaican having a future at Bramall Lane being 32 and currently on loan at League Two side Notts County.

He has been in good form for County and he seems to of found his level there and will be helpful to Notts in winning promotion back to League One, so Sheffield United should sell him to get him off the books and free up funds.
