Rotheram United are currently on a tremendous run of form which has seen them beat Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday, and Ipswich Town, as well as a storming comeback to snatch a draw with Derby County.

Under new manager Neil Warnock, they are playing their best football all season, with many now expecting the Millers to do what seemed unthinkable three months ago, and avoid relegation.

However before Warnock got his players playing at the top of their game, the Millers looked set to be sent packing back to League One.

One big reason for this was certain players not putting enough in to the game to warrant getting a result for their team. Too many players at the New York Stadium were simply not contributing, with many fans furious at certain individuals displays.

With this in mind, we at FLW have taken a look at FIVE Rotherham United players who have not pulled their weight this season...

Emmanuel Ledesma

Following a loan spell the previous season, Ledesma penned a one year deal with the Millers last summer, with many fans excited about the prospect of the Argentine signing.

However this season has not gone quite to plan for him, with only a handful of appearances and no goals under his belt, Ledesma finds himself out of the team and struggling to get a look in.

Part of this could be down to his work rate and ethos, and the fact that he may just not sit right with management. It would be a surprise to see Ledesma extend his deal at the New York Stadium, and a move back to his homeland is looking increasingly likely.

Luciano Becchio

Signed by former manager Neil Redfearn, Becchio returned to the New York Stadium after a successful loan spell earlier in his career had seem him impress the Millers fans.

This time round though it has not quite panned out so well for the former Leeds striker, and he has struggled to regain any sort of fitness, with only 1 appearance to his name since his return.

It could be seen as a gamble that just did not pay off with Becchio, and he has been unlucky with injuries since he signed, but in a time when the club needs everyone firing and pulling together, he simply has not been available.

Lewis Buxton

Signed in the summer from local rivals Sheffield Wednesday after earning great reviews for his form at Hillsborough, Buxton has simply not delivered for the Millers.

He started the season in the team, but failed to impress as much as he once had done, with fans wondering if it was the same player that had seen tearing up and down the right hand side for Sheffield Wednesday the season before.

Buxton had a dispute with his contract in December, and he has yet to have been selected since. Manager Neil Warnock will have little time for things like that, and you could fully expect to see Buxton be on his way in the summer.

Danny Collins

Despite making 26 appearances this season, the defender is seen as a real liability by most fans.

Collins has never really looked good enough for Championship level in all honesty, and it is a bit baffling that he is even selected by those in charge at the NYS.

His lack of ability was highlighted in the recent 3-3 draw, with 2 of the Rams 3 goals coming directly as a result of errors from the centre-half.

If Rotherham do stay up, then Collins will need to be looking over his shoulder as the management will surely look to bring in another centre-half to try and plug the gap which has leaked so many goals this season.

Tom Thorpe

A forgotten man at Rotherham United, Thorpe has very recently signed a deal with League One Bradford City until the end of the season.

He arrived at the club with a glowing reputation from the Manchester United academy, and even starred in pre-season for the Millers, with fans excited to see him in action.

However, he has made only 7 appearances for the Millers, and has found himself moved on instead of languishing in the reserves. A player who can play in numerous positions, this could ultimately prove his downfall as he struggles to perfect a set position on the field.

Its hard to imagine Thorpe will be missed at the NYS, and it is a real shame he has not lived up to his promise in a Rotherham United shirt.

Millers fans, do you agree? Would anyone else make this list? Let us know in the comments!
