Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has been touted for the Everton job in the event of Marco Silva's dismissal by talkSPORT's Simon Jordan.

Under the Argentine, Leeds have been transformed from a side used to mid-table mediocrity to one that consistently challenges for promotion and look one of the strongest candidates to do so. This season has seen Leeds become one of the teams to beat in the Championship as they pursue Premier League football after missing out so agonisingly last term.

Meanwhile, in the top flight, Everton are struggling immensely under Marco Silva as they flirt with the relegation zone. It is looking increasingly likely that Silva could be the next manager to lose his job with the Toffees' form not improving under his management.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan claimed Marcelo Bielsa would be a great candidate to replace Silva, stating: “There is no reason why Everton shouldn’t be able to attract an elite manager to come to the club.

“When you talk about Marcelo Bielsa managing Leeds, why wouldn’t he be managing a team like Everton?"

Here, we take a look at five reasons why Marcelo Bielsa would never think to leave Leeds for the Merseyside club...

Firstly, and perhaps most obviously, Leeds are in a very strong position to achieve promotion to the Premier League under Bielsa, so it seems implausible that Bielsa would jump ship having done so much work to get Leeds to this position.

He could be in the same league as Everton in six months.

The second reason is that even if the job is too good to be true, Bielsa would not leave Leeds midway through a season.

For similar reasons to the previous point, it wouldn't make sense for Bielsa to leave Leeds at this stage as he would be abandoning his project.

The flip side of him leaving midway is that he certainly would not join a team midway through the season.

It is common knowledge that Marcelo Bielsa's training regime is rigorous to say the least, so joining a club midway through a season would not be beneficial for the style of play he wishes to implement.

If Bielsa were to join Everton imminently, he would struggle to get any more out of this squad than any other manager because it's not the team he has built.

Bielsa takes on jobs that are projects, hence building Leeds from being average to hopefully Premier League consolidation, but Everton wouldn't fit that ideal.

Bielsa is not one to make knee-jerk decisions in his career. There was the time when famously quit Lazio after 48 hours, but that came as a result of the club failing to deliver on his clear transfer requirements.

If Bielsa were to give time to think about the possibility of managing Everton, he would weigh up massively in favour of Leeds anyway, but also that he would take a long time to become the manager.

It would not be a quick process to secure Bielsa.
