QPR haven't had the best of seasons in the Championship this campaign but the addition of former Manchester United starlet Sean Goss was a fantastic signing made by manager Ian Holloway.

Despite the left-footed midfielder having not made an appearance in the United first team, he was highly rated in the reserve and youth set-ups, with former United manager Louis van Gaal selecting to take him on the club's 2015 pre-season tour of America.

But he's elected to drop down a level to pursue a career at Loftus Road, with the overwhelming competition and non-stop spending always seemingly getting in the way of cracking a place in the United first-team set-up.

And with every highly rated player comes an ability to bring a new dimension of talent to a side at this level and there's real hope that Sean Goss can take QPR out of the lower echelons of the Championship and back up the table.

So with that in mind, here's 5 reasons why the former United wonder kid can turn QPR's season around...

One for the future

Goss is a left-footed midfielder who comes with a seriously promising reputation having joined United from Exeter City in 2012.

In just his second season in the United academy, he was nominated on the three-man shortlist for the Jimmy Murphy player of the year award, which has wielded some fantastic result for some of United's rising young stars.

Fringes of Man United first team

Whilst he didn't quite make his debut for the United first-team during his tenure with the club, we was more than a part of the senior squad for the 2015/16 pre-season tour in America, which managers don't take lightly, especially at clubs like United.

He mingled with the best of the best during those few weeks in America, with the United squad attracting bumper crowds and record attendances.

These are the experiences that will stand Goss in great stead during his time with QPR.

Next Michael Carrick?

Naturally, there are always going to be comparisons when it comes to United's emerging stars and one that Sean Goss drew was his similarity to Michael Carrick.

Carrick is a composed player who has played at the top of the game all his career and for Goss to draw that sort of similarity is seriously impressive stuff.

Watch out for his deadly set-pieces too - if you speak to any United fan that tracked his progress, they'll tell you that Goss is excellent from dead-ball situations.

Rated at Manchester United

It's little secret that United were keeping a close eye on the development of Sean Goss and in honesty, he was a player they really didn't want to let go.

But at his age, the pursuit of first-team football must come first and the Red Devils chose not to stand in his way on this occasion.

QPR are inheriting a seriously talented player who was tipped for the first-team in years to come and that in itself is exciting.

Impressive youth displays

Goss has been on his way back from a nasty back injury that, in honesty, probably stilted his chances of first-team football in the United senior side.

But when he's played, he's shone for the under-23 team in what has been a difficult campaign at times for the young Red Devils.

In his last appearance for the academy side, he set up a stoppage time winner against Liverpool which means a lot to United no matter what level you play at.

He's certainly a gamble and will have to get used to the physicality and fast paced nature of the Championship but if he takes that in his stride, QPR fans should be very excited about this young man indeed.
