Leeds United have had a mediocre season, there's certainly no doubt about that.

Whether this is due to off the field antics (Massimo Cellino for example), or just being bang average every Saturday, something will change. And it will change next season.

As much as it doesn't look like it, there are a lot of positives at Leeds United. If you take out the owner whose sole aim is to destroy the club and clear some of the dead wood, there is no reason as to why they can't win the Championship next season.

Steve Evans set Leeds the target of finishing in the top ten when he took over the reigns at Elland Road.

But despite a good FA Cup run, Leeds have failed to impress in their league campaign with inconsistency the main problem over the past weeks.

This said, with a few tweaks in the summer and a bit of hard work, the foundations are set for Leeds United to win the Championship next year, and here's FIVE reasons why......

Potential

Everybody now knows what a great youth set up and academy Leeds have, producing some quality players who currently star in the first team on a regular basis.

These include the likes of Charlie Taylor and Alex Mowatt, not forgetting 19-year-old Lewis Cook who is wanted by an array of Premier League clubs.

If these players are given the opportunity, they can take anyone on their day, and maybe, just maybe guide Leeds to Championship success next season.

Fans

leedsssss

With some of the best fans in the country, Leeds United have a real reason to impress.

The Whites had one of the highest average away followings last season and this provided a real boost for the players.

There is no doubt that this will continue for many years to come, giving the players something to play for.

Without fans, football is nothing.

Facilities

Leeds United have European standard facilities, whether it be the stadium or the training ground, they are suitable for any player to display top performances and develop to the best of their potential.

With a capacity of around 40,000, if Elland Road was to sell out, it would create a fortress and an atmosphere away players would dread.

Steve Evans

Unpopular when he first arrived, the ex-Rotheram boss has won over fans with his passionate attitude and approach towards games.

Whether Leeds win, lose or draw, Evans will always go over to the fans to applaud their support.

If this passion continues, it will boost Leeds' chances of Championship success.

Lewis Cook

At just 19, Cook is already a pivotal part of Leeds United's midfield.

He provides a great spark going forward and is certainly not afraid of a tackle.

If Cook continues to progress and stays fit for the duration of the campaign, he will continue to provide a threat for Leeds whilst sitting just behind the striker.

It will be a task for United to keep him during the summer as a number of clubs will no doubt be keen on a move for the player.
