Speculation is rife heading into the turn of the year at Elland Road, with a host of players linked with joining the Whites.

Owner Massimo Cellino recently called off a club sale to a consortium of Leeds United fans; who reportedly wanted to install David Moyes at the helm.

As things stand, soap-opera side Leeds United sit in 16th place, with 19 points from 17 games. Having only won less than one-quarter of those matches, Leeds should draft in some January transfer signings, to motivate the squad and help the club stride forwards.

Current manager, Steve Evans, has been there since October 2015, ever since Uwe Rosler was fired after only winning two games in twelve.

With a success rate of 33%, Evans must look to improve the squad, despite being backed into a corner by the dramas involving the ownership of the club.

As a club with incredibly loyal and vocal fans, here's FIVE potential January signings that Leeds fans would surely be delighted with.....

Kyle Lafferty

Despite Lafferty's pivotal role in taking Northern Ireland to Euro 2016; he just can’t buy a place in the Norwich squad, with love nor money. The former Palermo striker has played just once this season, and will want to be in the form of his life for the most important tournament of his professional career next summer.

Linked with a loan move earlier in the season, the 28-year-old could be the man to provide the spark to get Evans’ side firing.

He has a wealth of experience, having played in Italy, Switzerland and Turkey during his career.

However, recently, Norwich's Alex Neil appeared to quashed any chance that Lafferty had of going out on loan, suggesting that he is needed for Norwich. I find that hard to believe, and advocate that if Leeds can place a good offer on the table, Norwich won't be able to say no.

Liam Bridcutt

Sunderland midfielder, Liam Bridcutt, has supposedly been a transfer target for Leeds ever since the start of the international break, as they desperately try to put together a deal in time for the upcoming window.

Media reports suggested that Leeds may try and sign Bridcutt on loan.

Nothing has come to fruition to date, though January could present another chance to land the former Brighton man. A classy defensive midfielder, he is experienced at Championship level and surely eager to earn his place back into the Scotland side.

Yet to make a first team appearance for Sunderland this season, Bridcutt is an in-demand footballer of late, circulating attention from Cardiff and Reading, also.

Anders Lindegaard

Lindegaard

West Brom shot-stopper Anders Lindegaard, 31, has also been previously linked with a switch to Leeds United.

The Danish keeper may once have played for rivals Manchester United, but his limited role at Old Trafford is unlikely to cause too much of a problem should he make the move. Lindegaard would bring international and top-club experience to Leeds, should he sign.

In terms of competition at West Bromwich Albion, Ross Turnbull is suffering from injury, while Boaz Myhill has been superb so far this season, with Ben Foster due to return soon. In other words, I don't see Lindegaard getting much of a look-in, which is a great shame, due to the fact that I rate him highly as a goalkeeper.

Resident Leeds goalkeeper, Marco Silvestri, could be massively helped my Lindegaard's presence; with his wealth of experience on offer, and for the competition aspect - as the saying goes, competition is healthy.

Lewis Grabban

Another current Canary, Lewis Grabban, 27, from Croydon, South London, is currently Norwich's number 7, and an out-and-out striker. Similarly to Lafferty, Grabban isn't getting much of a look-in this season.

The former Bournemouth ace has played just 98 minutes of Premier League football this term, and Norwich fans on Twitter appear to be fairly critical of Grabban, one such fan asked "Was Grabban born off-side??"

Lacking confidence since leaving Bournemouth, Grabban's ability has not been lost, and will surely re-find his scoring days of old if Leeds can sign him. Having worked under Evans at Rotherham, Grabban already knows the gaffer, so could be more inclined to listen to Leeds' offer. Furthermore, both Jerome and Mbokani are ahead of him, so I think it’d be best if he left the club on loan to try and recapture his best form.

If Grabban could re-find such form again, then he would certainly fire Leeds United up the league, and ease the pressure off stressed Evans.

David Jones

David Jones000

Jones, often referred to as Burnley's unsung hero, is one of England's most hard-working footballers - the 31-year-old tirelessly keeps the ball moving for Burnley, game in, game out.

Jones started his career at Manchester United in 1995, but struggled there. Failing to make an appearance, he moved on to Derby County, and is currently one game off his century for Burnley after joining the Turf Moor club in 2013.

Fans' eye may usually be attracted to twinkle-toed stars and attractive football, but there is no substitute for good, old-fashioned effort.

Nevertheless, if I were to be a Leeds fan, I would be genuinely over-the-moon with this signing. Buying David Jones would do nothing but propel Leeds forwards as his impact is felt.
