One of the essential attributes of a striker in this league is to be fast, to be able to get stuck into the defence and rip your marker apart.

Last season Cherries striker Callum Wilson was one of the quickest strikers in the league, and he used his pace and control to great effect bagging a glut of goals which helped send Bournemouth up.

Watford have Ighalo and Deeney who also terrorised defences with their pace, bagging 20 goals apiece.

This is basic proof that a pacy striker is a big attribute to any Championship team looking to go up.

A pacy striker is able to beat his marker, get to crosses easier than a more immobile striker and make runs past defences - he can find the gaps in the defence as well as make runs in behind them like the key strikers did last season.

All the top teams this season possess a striker that can play up top with pace or a quick winger who can play up front, here is a list of the FIVE quickest strikers in the Championship, who are bound to bag a lot of goals this season.

Abel Hernandez

The Uruguayan striker is proof of how useful a pacy striker is at this level and has seven goals in 13 games this season, and is one of the top goalscorers in the division.

He had a very difficult season last year with Hull and failed to make an impression as Hull were relegated from the Premier League.

But he has made a quick start to this season with goals against numerous teams already, and has terrorised defenders with his pace.

Hernandez has improved his finishing from last year as well and has been clinical in front of goal - he is bound to be near the top of the goalscoring charts this season.

The Uruguayan international is one of the best players in the division and will be essential to Hull's promotion hopes.

Andre Gray

The former Brentford man signed on a big money deal for Burnley this season, which many pundits saw as a possibly poor move.

They had to replace Ings who they had lost to Liverpool and Gray has started fantastically earning himself a nomination for player of the month in October.

Gray has incredible creativity behind him, and he has stretched defences by using his pace to get behind defences.

The ex-Luton Town forward has seemingly improved from his time at Brentford where he used his pace to almost equally devastating effect.

Expect to see him near the top of the goalscoring charts and in the Premier League very soon.

Nouha Dicko

The Wolves man played in an electrifying trio of attackers last year with Sako and Afobe who also have phenomenal pace.

Sadly, the Wolves man has been laid off by a serious injury for the most of the season, which has ruled him out of being near the top of the goalscoring charts like he was last season.

Perhaps the poor form that Wolves are currently showing, is evidence for how essential Dicko's pace and finishing is to Wolves' attack and chances of promotion.

Benik Afobe

The Wolves striker has been a revelation since his move from Arsenal, ripping opposition defences from the start of his time at the club.

With the pace of Dicko and Sako, Wolves had one of the most feared attacks in the league last year, tearing apart several defences due to their quick feet.

With the injury to Dicko this season and Sako leaving the club for the Premier League, Afobe suddenly has an increased workload and has been a bit disappointing so far, perhaps struggling to forget about the Premier League interest in him over the summer.

Afobe  got 13 goals in 21 appearances last season, and with five in 10 this season, he will beat that total.

Freddie Sears

The Ipswich Town striker has also been in fine form since he joined from Colchester last season and scored nine goals last season, and has four this season.

He has added mobility to the front line which they lacked with just Murphy up front and he looks set to get double figures in the goals category.

His link up play with Murphy and McGoldrick is essential to Ipswich, who are trying to recover from their poor start to make the top six this season, like they did last year.
