Sheffield Wednesday look like genuine promotion contenders under Carlos Carvalhal with a talented squad, and an ambitious chairman crucial to the best start to a season they have made in a long time.

In fact, as it stands, Wednesday players have won the Player of the Month award three times this season with Lucas Joao, Fernando Forestieri and Ross Wallace all scooping the accolade.

Wednesday are sitting just outside the play-offs with fans believing this to be there best chance at a return to the Premier League in a long time.

Joao and Forestieri have provided a large chunk of the goals but midfielders Bannan, Matias, Lee and Semedo have all been important to their recent resurgence.

Their defence was second best in the league last year and whilst it does not have notoriety of this nature this season, it has still been solid with young centre back Tom Lees being outstanding.

To keep pace with their promotion rivals, they will need to spend in January and these are FIVE Premier League strikers they should look to sign in January......

Andrej Kramaric

Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric has seriously struggled to impose himself at the King Power Stadium this season.

The original intention behind signing Kramaric last January was to save the beleaguered Foxes, who were sitting bottom of the Premier League and were struggling for goals.

They completed a stunning turnaround and managed to stay up, but this was not down to the form of Kramaric who has struggled for first team football, and this season, due the sensational form of Jamie Vardy, he is even further down the pecking order.

His place in the Croatia squad for next summer's Euros is in jeopardy and the Leicester owners will surely be keen on getting their record signing off the books, and a loan move to a good Championship side will suit both parties.

Libor Kozak

The Czech striker will surely be attracting plenty of interest at Aston Villa, despite not playing in the first team for a long time due to a bad injury.

He arrived with an excellent goalscoring record but sadly suffered a leg break and has featured very few times for Villa and his future doesn't appear to be at Villa Park.

The prolific goalscorer will be a target for an array of clubs in January, who will be willing to help the Czech get his career back on track.

Lewis Grabban

The Norwich striker has endured a difficult Carrow Road career since his move from Bournemouth, and has rarely had first team opportunities.

Even being a proven Championship goalscorer with Bournemouth still left him second choice to Cameron Jerome when Norwich were in the Championship, and he's even further down the pecking order this year.

But, he did score 20 plus goals for Bournemouth a few seasons back and would be wanted by a Championship side wanting to bolster their attacking options.

Yann Kermorgant

The French striker was crucial to Bournemouth winning the league last season, chipping in with over 10 goals.

The striker also had a good Championship goalscoring record with Charlton, prior to his move to the Cherries.

Kermogant has struggled with the increased demand of the Premier League and has become a bit of a fringe player at Dean Court, failing to take advantage of key man Callum Wilson's injury and has fallen behind Glenn Murray and Junior Stanislas in the pecking order.

But being a proven Championship goalscorer will prove a valuable asset for a side pushing for the play-offs like Wednesday.

Rickie Lambert

The West Brom striker has struggled for football at the Hawthorns, just like he was at Anfield, and is in desperate need of a move.

He is behind, Anichebe, Rondon and Berahino in the pecking order and is desperate for first-team football.

He was incredibly prolific in the Championship a few seasons back when Southampton were promoted, and could still manage it at this level and would surely be keen on a move to Wednesday.
