It ended up being a season of mediocrity for QPR, who saw Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink take over mid-season and steady what looked to be a sinking ship, seeing the club to a solid mid-table finish.

The club were only relegated from the Premier League a year ago, and a relegation to League One would have been disastrous for the club.

However, with a bit of confidence now behind Hasselbaink, it might be that he sets his sights higher for next season and tries to drive the club towards promotion.

To do this, the Dutchman might well want to venture into the Premier League to look for players who he feels are capable of bringing something to his squad which is currently lacking.

With these thoughts in mind, here are FIVE Premier League players QPR could look to sign to mount a promotion push next season....

Fraizer Campbell

The club finished with a dead zero goal difference this season, so it is clear to see that goals need to be added to the team from somewhere.

Fraizer Campbell might well provide that answer. He has an abundance of Championship experience and has found himself isolated at Crystal Palace, with game time at a minimum.

He does however still have plenty to offer, and might well fancy the chance of a move across London to Loftus Road as he tries to breathe some life into his career.

Danny Ings

The Liverpool man is recently back in training following an injury which has kept him out almost entirely all season.

However, he will be keen to get some game time under his belt, and while Jurgen Klopp will no doubt give him a chance at some point, Ings might be wise to try and get a move to the Championship to build up his confidence and match practice.

He is an obvious talent, capable of scoring plenty of goals, and it will be interesting to see how the summer pans out for him. QPR meanwhile, will be wise to try and take up the option of signing the former Burnley man.

Liam Moore

Despite being part of the squad at the start of the season for the title wining Foxes, Moore struggled to nail down a place and ultimately spent time out on loan for the most part.

He is a talent though, and simply needs a break where he gets regular football and time to impress on the field.

QPR could well do with shoring up their defence, with some players starting to age, and adding a young centre back like Moore could well be the ideal move. He impressed last season for Leicester in the Premier League, and is still more than young enough to learn his trade and improve immensely.

Andreas Pereira

Much is expected of the young Man United midfielder, but he has yet to really shine or for that matter be given much of a chance by Louis Van Gaal.

It could well be time for Pereira to seek a move away from Old Trafford, and he might see QPR as the ideal destination to hone his game and get himself some game time.

QPR have released several players already, with more expected to follow, and signing a young attacking midfield talent like Pereira might well be the ideal solution going into next season.

Darron Gibson

Darron Gibsond

Often in the Championship, the best clubs add some midfield steel and experience to their ranks, and it pays dividends.

This might well be the case with Everton midfielder Gibson, who still has enough in the tank to offer something for a host of clubs chasing his signature.

He is fully expected to leave Goodison Park in the summer, and there will be no shortage of suitors for the former Man United man. Gibson has plenty of ability in the centre of the park, and could be the ideal player to provide some much needed class in the centre of the park at Loftus Road.
