Birmingham City have had a decent season.

A season that has seen the club fall just short of the play-offs, but never really seen a serious charge from the Midlands club.

Birmingham have really struggled at home this season. Successive losses to lower league teams such as Rotherham, Charlton and Huddersfield have all taken three points off the Midlands outfit this season at St Andrews.

The reason the club just sitting outside the play-offs haven't quite made it could be attributed to this factor. To at least challenge the top six consistency needs to be apparent.

Such a problem can be improved by certain players, these players could give The Blues that push they need next season to at last break that top six.

FLW's Conor McGilligan has identified FIVE Premier League players who Birmingham should go and sign in the summer to mount a promotion push next season.....

Sheyi Ojo

ojooo

High praise has been given to the young Liverpool man.

His quality is for all to see as he makes the Liverpool squad for their semi final this week against Villarreal.

Unrealistic? Maybe Birmingham fans, but look at it this way. With Klopp already making it known he will be investing heavily into attackers in the summer months, Ojo could be on the loan market.

His ability is frightening, after the loss of Gray to Premier League winners Leicester, Birmingham need that raw, direct talent. Ojo could provide this.

At only 18 years old he has had spells at Wolves and Wigan, so knows the league well.

After Klopp has breathed life into the academy, even club legend John Aldridge is hoping that this wonderful talent develops into a Anfield legend.

But this will take time and the loan market is a great way to develop young talent, if rumoured targets Reus or Kevin Volland arrive, Ojo for the time being could be frozen out.

Sam Byram

Sam Byram

The man signed from Leeds earlier on this year hasn't really featured in the Hammers line up.

Michail Antonio has become a revelation at right back, strong, powerful and is scoring goals.

Cresswell on one side and Antonio on the other is proving a formidable force for the Hammers and is proving difficult for Byram to break down.

The youngster still has years left to develop, but after signing from Leeds in January, could the Yorkshireman be on his way back to The Championship as Antonio seems to be proving a superb right back for the East Londerners? Only time will tell.

If this was the case however, it would be an excellent signing for Birmingham and would show a statement of intent from the owners and manager Gary Rowett.

Dwight Gayle

The Palace man has been frozen out of his current squad.

After lighting up League One for Peterborough only a couple of seasons ago, Gayle has struggled to make the Premier League impact he wanted.

Lightning quick with superb athleticism Gayle would be a sought out talent and with Alan Pardew not involving Gayle in his starting 11 consistently the 25 year old could be convinced to move on.

Gayle when on show can be superb, his directness and fearless nature would make him a tormentor of Championship defences.

The availability of Gayle could be an interesting one and one definitely to keep an eye on.

Serge Gnabry

After a two year period absent from representing the Arsenal first team, this could be the year for Gnabry to move on. Few observers would have envisaged his subsequent plight.

Gnabry has been beset by injuries and fitness issues, whilst a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion this season was poor yielding very little with regards to playing time.

Once his nightmare stint at The Hawthorns was brought to an end, Arsene Wenger declared that he intended to send the starlet out on loan again.

The talent Gnabry shows could be perfect for The Championship, box to box and versatile could be something the Midlands club need as they push for promotion. A man manager in Rowett could bring the very best out of the German, who it seems just needs an arm round him and abit of confidence instilled to reach his true potential.

Fraizer Campbell

Pace, power and experience. Campbell possesses all the right attributes to be successful in The Championship.

His stint with Cardiff conveyed his ability, Pardew has all but left Campbell in the cold at Premier League level and if available for a transfer could work perfectly upfront with counterpart Dwight Gayle.
