Wolves are currently languishing deep in the bottom half of the Championship table, sitting in 19th as we approach the run to the busy Christmas fixture list.

They have already parted ways with manager Walter Zenga and replaced him with Scottish manager Paul Lambert. The former Celtic and Dortmund midfielder will be hoping to put his own stamp on the squad and push them up the table.

A summer of heavy recruitment and numerous loan signings followed the appointment of Zenga in the summer, however, things did not quite work out.

For Lambert to put his marker down on the Wolves squad, he might want to delve into the loan market in January. The ideal place for Lambert to look will be in the Premier League.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at FIVE Premier League players Wolves should look to sign on loan in January...

Tom Carroll

24-year-old Spurs midfielder Carroll is getting to the point in his career where he needs to be playing regular first team football and impressing when he does.

The talented central midfielder spent time with Swansea a couple of seasons ago, but since then has failed to find a regular spot in the Spurs squad.

Much like his old teammate Alex Pritchard, it might be that Carroll needs to move on to progress his career, and a short move to Wolves could well set him on his way.

David Nugent

Pacey striker Nugent is out of favour with Boro manager Aitor Karanka this season, but is firmly proven at Championship level.

Nugent is a real threat with his running in behind and his experience of the Championship and Premier League make him a perfect signing for Paul Lambert.

He might be open to a short term move in January, and Wolves would be wise to swoop for such a player if he is available.

Benik Afobe

The former Wolves man has only been with Bournemouth for around a year, but is finding himself out of the team of late and in desperate need of game time.

A move back to his stomping ground at Molineux could well be the catalyst for him to rediscover form and fitness and force his way into the Cherries first team plans.

Another striker proven at this level, I am sure Afobe would be welcomed back to Wolves with open arms.

Ashley Fletcher

Another player who has perhaps made the jump to the Premier League to soon, Ashley Fletcher chose to sign for West Ham from Man United after an impressive spell with Barnsley last term.

Fletcher is a player of quality and knows where the back of the net is, however he does need time and experience in the Championship to better his game.

Wolves could offer him that opportunity. If he could hit the goal trail in the Championship, if would definitely improve his confidence in terms of finding the back of the net in the Premier League.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide

The young Arsenal man is one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League at the moment, with his manager Arsene Wenger rating him extremely highly.

He has already breached the Arsenal first team and at only 18 years of age, really does have the potential to be a star.

Reine-Adelaide can play across the front positions and is flexible enough to impact on either wing. He would be a real steal for Wolves if they could pinch him in January, and he may well benefit long term from a spell in the Championship.
