Charlie Austin, 26, is currently QPR's number 9, but recently has dropped multiple hints that he is set to leave Loftus Road this January, with his eyes reportedly set upon a return to the Premier League.

Austin's contract is set to expire in the summer, and with the striker looking increasingly unlikely to sign an extension, he could be available for a knock-down bargain rate this January.

Speaking on Talksport last week, Austin said: “If something comes up in January that’s right for myself and my family then I’ll assess the situation with my agent then. However, if not, I will be happy to stay with QPR and play in any position they ask me to play."

There is no denying that the striker is a proven Premier League goalscorer, and signing him could be the difference between a club staying in the Premier League, or getting relegated from the Premier League.

Here are FIVE Premier League clubs who would benefit from purchasing Charlie Austin......

Newcastle United

Newcastle United were interested in signing the player last summer when QPR went public over the interest from St. James Park.

Then, QPR placed a £15million price tag on Austin. With Papiss Cisse likely to be sold, Newcastle are in the market for a new striker. Could Austin be the man?

Newcastle are in 17th place and will have to up their game if they wish to avoid relegation, and the former Swindon Town frontman could be the striker to rejuvenate the struggling side.

Bournemouth

With Bournemouth's talisman Callum Wilson out for the majority of the season, they desperately need a replacement if they wish to avoid the drop.

In the 2014/15 season, Austin scored 18 goals in 35 games for the R's.

If he could replicate that form for Bournemouth, then not only could Bournemouth avoid relegation, but they could also achieve a respectable finish.

Furthermore, Austin would fit in perfectly with the mainly-British Bournemouth squad.

Chelsea

Chelsea currently lie in 16th place in the Premier League, far below where a club of their stature ought to be.

Having scored only 16 goals this season, Chelsea have really struggled, and manager Jose Mourinho will surely do whatever it takes to move his side up the league.

If Chelsea could sign Austin, and get him firing, then they will be back to old ways before you know it.

Furthermore, money isn't particularly an issue to Chelsea, so cut-price or not, if Chelsea need him, they'll hand over a blank cheque to QPR.

Tottenham Hotspur

Can you imagine a lethal strike partnership of Harry Kane and Charlie Austin? That surely would rip up the Premier League, and any team that England play against.

Spurs are in need of another striker, as Kane, despite him picking up his form recently, still looks fairly hot and cold. If Kane stops firing, then they have essentially, another version of him in Austin - if Spurs sign him.

Spurs have been plotting a move for the QPR starlet since August, and chairman Daniel Levy can afford Austin, and may even throw in a loanee to sweeten the deal.

Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand used to both work at Spurs, which may help negotiations along.

Aston Villa

Since Liverpool signed Villa's main man Christian Benteke, they have struggled to score. Currently at the foot of the table, Villa have netted only ten goals in their twelve games.

With the £32 million from Liverpool, Villa are in a healthy position to sign Austin from QPR.

If Aston Villa want to even give themselves a chance of surviving the drop this season, then they must spend on strikers, as soon as possible. If they don't... well the drop awaits them.

In my opinion, out of all the clubs that I have mentioned, Aston Villa are in the most desperate position for a new striker.
