Reading have had a number of top players throughout their past history, but they have also had many who struggle at the club.

The Royals are currently in their seventh consecutive Championship campaign, although did manage to have three seasons in the Premier League. Two from 2006-2008 and one from 2012-2013.

Here are FIVE players who wore the blue and white hoops that you might have forgotten about...

Martin Keown was an Arsenal legend and played many games and won many trophies for the Gunners. He was also a key part of the England side for a large portion of his career.

He ended his career with the Royals, although made under 10 appearances before retiring.

Nathan Ake is now a multi-million pound signing for AFC Bournemouth and is one of the best central-defenders in the Premier League.

He was once on loan at Reading, and helped the side get to Wembley in an FA Cup semi-final.

The famous Chelsea left-back had a very lively career, both on and off the pitch. He came to Reading for the 2013/14 season and was a crucial player until he picked up an injury.

The now Brighton and Hove Albion manager once was on loan at Reading for a month in December 1999. He is now a Premier League boss, and has a bright future ahead of himself.

Benik Afobe's stint at the Royals was somewhat overshadowed by Adam le Fondre and Jason Roberts. He still played a part off the bench in what was a very successful promotion campaign for Reading.
