Phillip Cocu is expected to further reshape his Derby County squad this summer as the Dutchman continues to get his feet under the table at Pride Park.

News has recently emerged claiming that Chris Martin is set to be let go by the club upon the expiry of his contract, and players such as Florian Jozefzoon and Ikechi Anya are also likely to join him.

Jozefzoon is an example of a player who, despite looking bright before his move to Pride Park, has turned out to be an underwhelming addition.

Here, during a time of self-isolation and reflection, we take a look at five players whose careers went backwards at Derby County...

Blackman arrived at Derby in January 2016 for a reported fee of £2.5m, with big expectations placed upon his shoulders.

The striker had scored 13 goals in all competitions in the first half of the season for Reading before his January move to the East Midlands, but failed to score a single goal for the remainder of the season.

After scoring only one goal during a three-year stint at Pride Park, as well as only finding the net twice in 17 games on loan for Sporting Gijon, he now finds himself playing in Israel for Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Injuries have been cruel to Anya, but it's fair to say his career has gone backwards since joining Derby.

The Scotland international was a key player under Gary Rowett, but failed to make a single appearance under Frank Lampard last term.

An injury in pre-season meant that he is still yet to make an appearance under Cocu, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, it's likely the former Watford man will be let go.

We've mentioned Jozefzoon already, and his name should also be added to this list.

The winger, who arrived from Brentford last summer, showed glimpses of his quality under Frank Lampard last season, but has really struggled for form under Cocu.

He was excellent for the Bees, but as for now, who knows what his future holds?

Dickinson signed for Derby in 2008, on the back of scoring 21 goals for Stockport County in League Two.

After establishing himself as one of the most prolific forwards in the lower leagues, Derby paid close to a million pounds for his signature, but his career quickly went downhill.

The striker failed to make a single first-team appearance for Derby, before moving to Brighton the following year.

Loan moves to the likes of Peterborough and Walsall didn't really work out, and he now finds himself playing for Droylsden after time at FC United of Manchester, Bradford Park Avenue and Stalybridge Celtic.

In the summer of 2014, Steve McClaren swooped to sign Atletico Madrid winger Ivan Calero.

The Spaniard looked to be a really exciting prospect, and a move to Derby was meant to be an exciting step in his career and one that could act as a springboard.

But Calero was to make only three first-team appearances for Derby, and after flattering to deceive on loan at Burton, he left to join Sparta Rotterdam in 2016.

He now plays for Numancia in the Spanish second division.
