Steve Evans has done an excellent job since taking over Leeds last month, as the club tries to recover from their dismal start.

The club have been a circus this season which isn't exactly an alien concept to fans, and this time around it is the leadership of chairman Massimo Cellino that has been polarising opinions.

The Fans United group were a group of Leeds fans who seemed close to completing a takeover at Leeds earlier this month, but it fell through after Cellino decided he didn't want to sell his majority stake for £30 million.

Uwe Rosler was sacked in October after a poor run of form and Cellino decided to bring in ex-Rotherham manager Steve Evans, which was a decision initially disliked by fans.

But they have slowly warmed to him after a positive run of results, including an impressive 3-0 away win at local rivals Huddersfield.

To continue the club's recovery new faces will need to be brought in whoever the main man in the boardroom is.

Here are FIVE players who should be on Steve Evans' January wishlist......

The holding midfielder at Sunderland has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at the Stadium of Light, since his arrival from Brighton.

He hasn't made a single starting appearance for the Black Cats this season and his future looks in serious doubt, but Leeds look keen to give him a way out.

The combative midfielder is capped for Scotland and has experience at this level for Brighton, and would help add some good balance to the midfield, whilst also giving him extra squad depth.

They are trying to get him in the current loan window but with time running out, the January transfer window may be the most realistic time for them to pull the deal off.

Kyle Lafferty

A strange case really for the Norwich striker, as he has been in remarkable form for his country Northern Ireland during the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with six goals.

He has been crucial in them gaining promotion to the tournament in France this summer, which is a very impressive achievement.

But despite this, he is way down the pecking order for Premier League outfit Norwich and is desperately seeking a way out and Leeds look to want to do that.

Leeds are short of goals and Lafferty gives them an extra option up top and even though they want the deal done this week, they should go for a permanent deal in January.

Lewis Grabban

Also a Norwich striker, he has struggled to establish a starting place since his move from Bournemouth.

The striker has barely played for Norwich this season and doesn't look like making a breakthrough, but the striker seems reluctant to move.

He has been rumoured with a move to Leeds but reports indicate that the player is reluctant in relocating to Leeds, but Norwich want to sell him and Grabban may need the move to salvage his career.

He is proven at Championship level with Bournemouth and would be a shrewd signing by Evans.

James Wilson

The young Manchester United striker has been linked with a loan move to the Championship for sometime now, and his struggle to get game time at Old Trafford may get the move in motion.

He was given starts by Van Gaal at the start of the season but has not impressed sufficiently and with the emergence of starlet Anthony Martial at Old Trafford, he is now further down the pecking order.

Wilson certainly has a point to prove to United and scoring a bagful of goals at Championship level may do that, and Leeds would surely be one of the clubs interested in taking him.

Joao Carlos Teixeira

The Liverpool youngster was very impressive on loan at Brighton last year and scored six goals in 32 appearances.

On his return to Liverpool this season he has given a string of impressive cup appearances, but has been limited to the cups.

He needs another loan move and Leeds are a club likely to give him first team opportunities, especially given how good he was at Brighton last year.

The attacking midfielder has a goal threat and knows how to pick a pass and could be exactly what Evans and Leeds need.
