Huddersfield Town are currently undergoing a resurgence under new manager Danny Cowley, as the club climbed out of the relegation zone following a recent unbeaten run.

The Terriers were in freefall after their exit from the Premier League in May, with no sign of revival in sight. This soon changed in September with the appointment of Danny and Nicky Cowley from Lincoln, who have overseen a complete turnaround in the club's fortunes of late.

Their last result was a disappointing 3-1 defeat away to promotion-chasing Preston North End, with midfielder Juninho Bacuna scoring a consolation goal for the visitors late on. This has given the Cowley's food for thought over the international break on where to improve on and how to approach the January transfer window.

With Huddersfield certainly still looking up the table rather than over their shoulders, we take a look at five players who could make all the difference if they signed...

The Celtic winger would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season so would not command a large fee if Huddersfield were to tempt him away from Parkhead in January.

Huddersfield are currently lacking strength in depth going forward and adding the experienced winger to their ranks could plug this gap well for the rest of the season.

The former Premier League full-back would also add some much-needed experience to a position that is looking very light at the moment for the Terriers.

Jaden Brown has been operating at left-back for most of this season but at only 20-years-old, there is a lack of league experience in the position, along with little competition for it. If Town were to sign Olsson, there would be much stronger cover and competition for the left-back spot.

The on-loan Derby midfielder has been bit-part for Phillip Cocu this season and needs to leave the club before his career stagnates further. Huddersfield could be a better option for him to take if Everton were to recall him and send him elsewhere.

Huddersfield are clearly yet to replace the departed Aaron Mooy as it shows with Lewis O'Brien deputising in the 'number 10' slot, and while he is playing very well, it's also clear that Huddersfield could benefit to having someone naturally suited to being higher up the pitch, so O'Brien can drop deeper.

The Peterborough striker has been in fine form this season and is rightly attracting attention from Championship clubs, as he is the current League One top scorer with 12 goals already.

Huddersfield have one of the hottest talents in the Championship at the moment in Karlan Grant, but his destiny seems set on the Premier League sooner or later and the Terriers may have a battle on their hands to keep him. Toney presents a solid replacement for his goals and is a similar signing to when Grant arrived from the same division.

The Welsh international is currently a free agent, having left Derby County in January. The 32-year-old midfielder still has a lot to offer in the Championship and would add league experience to a midfield very short in that aspect.

With Huddersfield's current midfield showing great talent, they could need an older head in the dressing room to help guide them to continuing this run, especially in the latter stages of the season.
