With Nelson Oliveira today linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday, it again poses the question surrounding the Owls and how they might tackle the transfer market this summer.

The link with Oliveira is a pretty obvious one, given manager Carlos Carvalhal and his connections back in his homeland, and it would come as no surprise if he was to move to Hillsborough.

The attacking ace has recently been with Nottingham Forest, where he impressed with 9 goals in just under 30 appearances. Forest fans would no doubt love to see him back at the City Ground, but with the Owls interested, they may well lose out due to Wednesday's financial muscle.

It would be a tremendous signing though for the Owls, and one which shows real intent as they head into the summer transfer window.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at FIVE players who could follow Nelson Oliveira to Sheffield Wednesday this summer...

Adlene Guedioura

The midfielder with a thunderbolt of a strike on him will be an in demand player in the summer if some of the rumours around him are to believed.

Guedioura is proven in the Championship and would be an excellent addition for the Owls. They had decent midfield players as it is, but an extra addition in the middle of the park might well be welcome.

If the Owls could pull off a move for someone like Guedioura, then it will most definitely give fans reason for optimism heading into the new season.

Daniel Pudil

The defender spent last season on loan with the Owls and is being widely tipped to rejoin the Owls should they meet the asking price for the full back.

Pudil would be welcomed back by most Owls fans you would imagine, after his marauding displays last season impressed fans in the stands at Hillsborough.

If the signing does go through, then it will be a smart move by manager Carlos Carvalhal getting someone back into the team who impressed so much last term.

Jordan Rhodes

In a strange turn of events, rumours on social media this week have been linking Rhodes with a move away from Middlesbrough only 6 months into his spell at the Riverside.

Rhodes would be a tremendous signing for Wednesday if they could pull it off, bringing with him more or less guaranteed goals.

He would come at a cost, but he may well be worth it if the Owls have serious hopes about reaching the Premier League.

Grant Hanley

The Owls could well do with a centre back to add to their squad this season, and Hanley would be perfect.

Blackburn will be keen to keep hold of the Scottish international, so the Owls will have to make sure they put in an appropriate bid for Hanley to ensure they capture his signature.

However, he would be well worth it, and with Glen Loovens ageing, Hanley would slot right in alongside Tom Lees at the heart of the defence next season.

Steven Fletcher

The big striker and Scotland international has spent time with Marseille last season, and has now been told he can leave Sunderland, meaning a scramble for his signature could well be on.

Although the Owls have Adthe Nuhui as a target man type striker, bringing someone in of Fletcher's class could take them to the next level in the Championship.

He would most definitely add another dimension to their attacking play, whether that be starting or off the bench. Wages may also be a problem, but if the Owls and their owners are serious about getting to the Premier League, then Fletcher might just be the sort of signing to help them get there.
