What has been a miserable season for Aston Villa had a better ending for star man Jack Grealish, helping the England Under-21 side win the prestigious Toulon Tournament.

He shone for his side as they were victorious, and has once more put the scouts of some top Premier League sides on alert. The latest rumours suggests that Stoke and Tottenham are interested in his signature.

But after such a disappointing season, some of their best players could be on their way out, and plenty of players who haven't pulled their weight could be binned.

Eric Black took over from the sacked Remi Garde for the latter part of the season, but it is expected that former Chelsea Champions League winning manager Roberto Di Matteo will take over.

They will be looking to bounce straight back to the top flight, and there's no reason why they can't do that if they invest smartly this summer. For that to happen, some of the dead wood will probably have to leave.

Here, in the opinion of FootballLeagueWorld writer Ryan Evans, is FIVE Aston Villa players who could follow Jack Grealish out of the club....

Brad Guzan

American international Guzan started the season as the number 1, but has since fallen out of favour with the Villa management, not appearing since April.

He made 28 appearances, and was even rated as the worst goalkeeper in Europe by some columnists.

However, he is highly sought of in his home country and could prove a popular choice, especially if the new manager agrees with Eric Black and Remi Garde and chooses to play Mark Bunn over the 31-year old.

Ashley Westwood

What a difference a year makes. In the 2014-15 season, he played a huge part in their run to the FA Cup final, but this year has been unable to reproduce the same form to help his side escape the drop.

Not a lot has gone right for Westwood, and even his best performance this season was in vain, scoring twice and winning man of the match in the 4-2 defeat to Southampton in April.

The ex-Crewe man will probably be viewed as a good player that was surrounded by a bad bunch, and will likely have plenty of interest from the first and second tiers.

Ciaran Clark

The fact that the Irish international has been at the club for the last 16 years may play in his favour in terms of getting a new contract from new owner Dr Tony Xia. However, whether he will want to stay is a different matter.

Clark may well have Villa in his blood, but not many would blame him if he's fed up with the lack of game time he's been getting lately. He made just 18 appearances this season, two of those of the bench.

The 26-year old has in excess of 130 league appearances for Aston Villa, but has received interest from rivals West Brom, according to reports.

Jordan Ayew

Villa's top scorer has had a decent season, with a rating of 6.88 from his 30 appearances this season. He is expected to have plenty of interest in him, despite the fact that he only signed for the club last summer.

The move saw the Ghanaian leave France's Lorient, where he spent just a season. Quite whether he will want to play in the second tier after being seen as one of the most promising youngsters in the world is unknown.

Gabriel Agbonlahor

The 29-year old stood down as Villa captain in April after an off-the-field incident, and has been struggling with fitness for the majority of the season.

His future is still undecided, as he is one that has come in for a lot of criticism from the Villa faithful. However, he will be in demand from many clubs in both the Premier League and Championship, or could well find himself playing abroad, with the USA a potential option.

Wherever he chooses, he will have to prove his fitness over the summer.
