Cardiff City manager Russell Slade will surely be hunting for several new players in the January transfer window.

The Bluebirds need to strengthen up front, and Slade will be keen to bring a striker in after his side have lacked quality up front over the past few weeks.

Cardiff’s 2-0 victory over Reading in their last game was their first goal after a nine hour goal drought, something that emphasises the need for some new forwards.

Cardiff agreed to let frontman Alex Revell to go out on loan to League One side Wigan Athletic, and Cardiff will want a new face to be added to go straight into the first team to put pressure on their first-choice strikers.

Despite Kenwyne Jones ending their goal drought against Reading, their strikers have had a dip in form and they need a spark back into the squad.

Here are FIVE players that should be on Slade's January wishlist.....

Fraizer Campbell

Campbell proved to be a fan’s favourite during his 18 months with Cardiff City, and he was signed by the former Cardiff boss Malky Mackay in January 2013 from Sunderland.

He settled into life in South Wales extremely quickly after scoring the winner on his debut against Leeds, and he continued his impressive form through the second half of the season, by scoring seven times in 12 outings as Cardiff went up to the Premier League as champions.

Victor Anichebe

anichebe

Anichebe’s West Brom career has been very restricted as he has only played two games this term, and both of them were in the Capital One Cup.

The powerful striker could be effective a division below. He is a powerful figure, who is able to hold the ball up with his back to goal, but also has a burst of speed and a potent strike.

Joe Ledley

Cardiff City fans would surely be delighted with bringing the former Bluebirds hero back home, and could be boosted with Ledley’s situation at Palace far from comfortable.

The Wales international has been happy at Selhurst Park since making the switch from Celtic, but has seen Alan Pardew prefer James McArthur and Yohan Cabaye on the majority of occasions.

Lewis Grabban

The Norwich forward has been linked with basically every club in the Championship in the past few weeks.

In the 2014/15 close season, the Bluebirds had a £3m bid for Grabban accepted only to miss out on his signature to Norwich.

Grabban has been out of favour since their top flight return and he will be desperate to play first-team football.

Michail Antonio

This would represent a more ambitious move than the others given Antonio moved to Upton Park in a move back in September.

The ex-Nottingham Forest man has explosive pace and could operate wide as well as through the middle at the top end of the pitch.

This would undoubtedly be a loan move rather than a permanent one, but would be an incredibly astute bit of business for Bluebirds.
