Ipswich Town are currently in sixth place in the Championship table, two points above Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City.

Although the first half of the season has been a success to a degree, the job is not yet done, but in Mick McCarthy they have manager that knows what it takes to get promoted from the Championship, into the Premier League.

The Ipswich boss is no doubt planning to add to his squad during this month's transfer window, in order to try and secure at the very least a top six spot, or maybe even challenge for automatic promotion from the Championship.

With speculation rife about who is signing for who, we here at Football League World have drawn up a list of FIVE players Ipswich Town should seriously consider signing during this month's window......

Conor Washington

Much speculation has surrounded the young Peterborough United forward, after his brilliant displays in League One this season.

Conor has scored 14 goals in 29 games for the Posh which has ld to a host of clubs from the Championship vying for his signature.

This has led Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony stating on Twitter that he wouldn't sell the 23 year-old for £2million.

Newport County are watching the saga closely as they have a sell on clause after he left Rodney Parade in 2014 for London Road.

Peterborough are determined though to not let their top scorer leave on the cheap, as they currently sit in a play-off spot in League One.

Jay Simpson

The 27-year old forward for Leyton Orient has scored 20 goals in the first half of the season, for a slightly underperforming Orient side.

Many have tipped Orient to bounce straight back up to League One this season, although they do sit in eighth place just outside the play-offs, many had tipped them for automatic promotion from League Two.

Jay Simpson though has been playing well and is by far the most prolific goal scorer in League Two, yes it's not the Championship but you don't score 20 goals in half a season if you're not a decent player.

Curtis Nelson

The Plymouth Argyle captain is by far on of the the best defenders in League Two and making the switch up to the Championship would not cause him any concern.

Good in the air, carries the ball out of defence, and is the captain at just 22 years of age, he has an outstanding future ahead of him.

Frankly it is a surprise that no-one has come in for him before now, as he has been consistent over the past 3 threeeasons for the Pilgrims and appeared in last season's League Two team of the season, after guiding Argyle into the play-offs.

Max Power

Besides having the best name in football, Max Power is a gifted young midfielder, he gets from box to box and can score goals, and undoubtedly has the ability to play at a higher level than League One.

The 22-year-old joined Wigan from Tranmere Rovers and has been one of Wigan's best players this season, having scored three goals in 26 matches for the Latics.

The young midfielder would have plenty to offer Mick McCarthy's promotion chasing Ipswich Town.

Power would help provide ammunition for the likes of Daryl Murphy and Freddie Sears upfront.

Che Adams

Many Championship clubs will be keeping an eye on Che Adams , who is one of League One shining stars.

The young striker has been a positive for Sheffield United in an otherwise disappointing season for the Blades so far.

Che has scored seven goals this season and his displays has caught the attention of clubs from not only the Championship, but teams from the Premier League have taken note of this rising star.

A combination of Freddie Sears and Che Adams upfront could be formidable for the Tractorboys.
