Sheffield Wednesday are currently embroiled in a close battle with numerous other teams to secure a play-off spot in the Championship, and at the moment, are hanging on to sixth spot by a whisker.

The Owls have developed a squad which is full to the brim with quality, with players like Barry Bannan, Fernando Forestieri, and Kieran Lee impressing as the season has progressed.

It could be argued though that the squad is now too deep, and there are players who simply do not seem to be getting a look in with the first team.

With Sheffield Wednesday, the bar has been raised when it comes to the standard required, and although not many in the squad have done much wrong, there are always players who fans will not be too fussed about if they are shown the door.

In the opinion of FLW writer Lee Connor, here are FIVE Sheffield Wednesday players fans will be glad to see the back of.....

Claude Dielna

dielnaa999

The French defender was signed in August 2014, but has gone on to be a relative flop during his stay in Sheffield.

He has made less than 30 appearances for the club since making the move to Yorkshire, and currently finds himself out on loan at Slovan Bratislava.

It would be a big surprise if Dielna returned to Wednesday at all, and many expect him to be moved on this summer as the Owls look to add to their squad further in the summer.

With increased quality in the defensive positions, Dielna is unlikely to break into the team again, and will be someone Owls fans will be happy to see go.

Sergiu Bus

bussss

Bus arrived just over a year ago in a deal worth just under £500k from CSKA Sofia, but has so far failed to live up to the expectation level he brought with him, contributing just the one goal so far.

He is another squad player who is out on loan, spending time with Salernitana this season. He is yet to pull up any trees there though, and it is unlikely he will be able to find a place in the Owls 11.

It is a shame for Bus, and a bit harsh because he has played ok at times, but with Hooper, Forestieri, and Nuhui ahead of him, he won't be finding a place up front for the Owls any time soon.

Modou Sougou

Modou Sougou00

Sougou only arrived in Sheffield in August of last year, but has fell by the wayside a bit as the Owls play-off push has gathered pace.

He has struggled to dislodge first teamers and regularly finds himself on the bench or not even in the squad at all, with some fans pointing out he seems too lightweight to play in the Championship.

Sougou has played ok in patches, and maybe needed more of a chance, but is another who is unlikely to cement a regular spot in the side, and with further additions expected this summer, could possibly see himself shown the door.

Caolan Lavery

Caolan Lavery

It might seem harsh to include young Lavery in this, but if he was going to break into the first team then he would have surely done so by now.

He has impressed in spells at Chesterfield and Portsmouth respectively, but with Hooper, Forestieri, Joao, and the returning Mathias all ahead of him in the pecking order, it is difficult to find a place for Lavery.

Lavery makes this list, but it is more for his own sake that he should be moved on, with his career threatening to go stale if he doesn't secure first team football soon.

Adthe Nuhiu

Atdhe Nuhiu

Probably the player at Sheffield Wednesday who splits opinion more than anyone, big Nuhiu is a bit of a maverick when it comes to his on field antics.

He is actually pretty good, and is always good for a crucial goal here or there, while he excels at making a nuisance of himself when he is thrust into the action.

However, some fans do not see that in him, and see  him as clumsy, overweight, and a bit of a waste of time given the other talent at the club.

If Nuhiu was to leave, there would be a section of fans who would rightly be gutted, but then there would probably be a group who in equal measure would rejoice at him leaving.

He has made over 100 appearances for the Owls, and if they did decide to get rid of him, I am pretty sure there would be plenty of takers.

Owls fans, what do you think? Hard to choose people in such a successful season would you agree? Who else would you not mind leaving in the summer? Let us know in the comments!
