When you are one of the biggest clubs in Europe, if not the world, there will always be a challenge in keeping every single player happy.

Some players at Manchester United have not had a look in this season and January could see the management team opt to offload some players either on loan or even permanently.

Louis van Gaal seems to have a willingness to play some of his younger players when his senior players are unavailable, but then there are other members of his squad who could be sacrificed to make way for his potential recruits.

Here Football League World's Lee Clarke takes a look at FIVE Manchester United players who could find themselves on the way to the Sky Bet Championship in January.....

Nick Powell

Powell was tipped for a bright future when he signed for United back in 2012, but has failed to fulfil the potential he once showed at Crewe Alexandra.

The 21-year-old has played just twice for the first-team at United since his arrival and has spent time on loan with Wigan Athletic and Leicester City.

The Foxes sent him back from a loan spell in 2014 after just three games after doubts were raised over the player's attitude.

Powell needs a move away from the Manchester giants to try and get his career back on track and given a lack of football in recent years, his most likely destination would be the Championship.

Ben Pearson

Ben Pearson

The central midfielder has drawn comparisons to United legend Paul Scholes as he has risen through the United youth ranks, although he is yet to feature for the first-team at the club.

Pearson is currently on loan at Sky Bet League One outfit Barnsley, and the Tykes are said to be delighted with the midfielder's performances at present.

The most natural move for his development would be for him to join a Championship club on loan for the second half of the season, which would also allow United to discover just how much potential the youngster does possess.

Sean Goss

Another central midfielder to come from the United conveyor belt of talent is Goss, who has drawn comparisons with Michael Carrick from development coaches at United.

Goss, was signed from Exeter City in 2012 and has made an impact since his arrival by stepping up and playing regular football for the club's Under-21's.

When a player draws comparisons to international footballers it is always intriguing to see just how far they can take their potential and for Goss, a move to the Championship would allow him the chance to showcase his star qualities.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson

The 18-year-old defender is set to be the next United youngster to burst onto the first-team scene and was handed his debut back in November, in a Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion.

The main thing that could go in Borthwick-Jackson's way as he looks to claim a regular first-team place could be his versatility, with the youngster able to play in a number of positions in both defence and midfield.

After his debut for the first-team, the starlet will be keen to kick on and a short loan spell away from Old Trafford would do his development no harm at all, particularly if it was to a Championship club.

Andreas Pereira

Andreas Pereira

The 19-year-old midfielder has featured a handful of times for the United first-team this season with appearances mainly coming in the Capital One Cup.

He scored a sensational free kick in the club's 3-0 victory over Sky Bet Championship club Ipswich Town and was a constant threat to the second tier side throughout.

Game time hasn't been forthcoming in the league yet for the Brazil Under-20 international and should he become available for loan, it would no doubt alert several Championship clubs.

Football League fans... Would you welcome any of these players? Who else in the United squad would you like to take on loan?
