Football players are judged on their fashion  sense not just their talent on the pitch - remember Liverpool's white suits for the 1996 FA Cup Final? 2018 has been a good year of fashion when it comes to the 2018 World Cup teams - at least, in most cases. With sharp suits and simple accessories, the feature of the day, many teams turned out looking immaculate, and sometimes more supermodel-like than professional sportsmen. Often, with a nod to their club or country heritage with custom club ties.

So when it comes to the five best-dressed teams of the World Cup, we were hard pushed to choose just those few. But without further ado, here are some of the teams that caught fans' eyes from the second their feet hit the runway.

Peru

With a collection of sharp yet straightforward blue suits, Peru's sartorial choices may have been one of the least ambitious, or controversial, of the day, but they certainly scrub up well. Opting for smart tailoring and an elegant choice of footwear, each member of Peru's team looked put together, and pins added to their lapels provided the ideal finishing touch. The red tie with white stripe is the perfect interpretation of a custom club tie, with a similar appearance to the Peru flag.

Mexico

A casual take on the suit, with a simple black tee shirt under a similarly coloured suit, Mexico is another team who didn't take a risk, but instead opted for a smart-casual look that isn't quite as polished as Peru, but isn't anywhere near as casual as Serbia's choice of tracksuits for disembarking. A black shirt and on-theme tie could have made the ensemble, but this simple look seems a comfortable option for travel while maintaining a level of formality.

Iran

With Iran already winning the internet's vote in the suit stakes, showing up looking like supermodels have undoubtedly caught the public attention for all the right reasons. Well-tailored, slim fit blue suits combined with crisp shirts and no tie is a very modern take, though a tie in the national colours could have provided the perfect nod to their countries heritage

Brazil

An undoubtedly eye-catching look, the Brazil team's monochrome take on the suit is a little on the wild side and takes a specific type of taste to enjoy. A darker shade of blue similar to the one that appears in the Brazilian flag, this well-dressed team opts for an embroidered patch in the place of a breast pocket to present their team. Choosing a slightly more matte material in combination with a more on-theme skinny tie might have made all the difference.

Egypt

A controversial choice, Egypt's suit-and-trainers combo is either being perceived as fashion-forward or a serious misstep, but take the Adidas out of the equation and the double-breasted suits are an attractive choice for the event. With lapel pins representing their country and a muted patterned tie, the Egypt look might not be entirely in line with their flag, but a custom club tie could have made all the difference.

Who did you think was the best-dressed team of 2018? With so many sharp suits in the running, there's no right answer - but we can agree that a custom club tie could be the perfect addition to many of this year's outfits, for that home spirit twist.
