There are many players in the Championship who do not get the credit they deserve, which is only natural in a league where there's so many talented players.

Often, the players who score the most goals or score outstanding goals receive the plaudits within the media.

Players such as Andre Gray, Chris Martin and Jordan Rhodes always receive vast amounts of praise, and rightly so, these are all talented strikers.

However, it is important to recognise the players who make big contributions to Championship sides, but don't perhaps receive much praise.

Being successful in England's second tier of football is largely based on these players doing what they do.

These players tend to cover the most ground, put in the most tackles, play important passes, and so on. If a team is to gain promotion in the Championship, every individual in a squad must contribute, not just a chosen few.

Here's FIVE of the most underrated players in the Championship....

Jake Livermore

Livermore doesn't seem to get half the amount of praise that he should, despite being one of the best central midfielders in the Championship.

The former Spurs man has been instrumental in Hull's good form recently, and has formed a very handy partnership with David Meyler.

Aged only 25, you feel that Livermore will eventually become a very good Premier League player once again.

George Friend

Friend has been ever present in Middlesbrough's backline since he joined them in 2012.

The 28-year-old deserves more credit for the way he manages to support Boro's attacks, but also remain very solid defensively.

It would be a somewhat tragedy if Friend doesn't play regularly in the Premier League in his career, as he's clearly capable of doing so.

Ross Wallace

The signing of Ross Wallace from Burnley will prove to be a very shrewd piece of business for Sheffield Wednesday.

The 30 year-old's ability to deliver dangerous set-pieces shouldn't be underestimated, and is why he is one of the best wingers in the Championship.

Perhaps not as quick as other wingers in the league, Wallace makes up for that with his crossing ability.

Dale Stephens

It's not an exaggeration to suggest that Stephens is one of the best passers outside the Premier League.

The 26-year-old has been a key part of Brighton's unbeaten start to the season, and will continue to do so.

One thing the former Charlton midfielder has added to his game this season, is the ability to score goals.

Stephens has scored an impressive three goals in 14 games so far this campaign.

Grant Hanley

The Blackburn skipper is a vital part of Gary Bowyer's side.

An old-fashioned centre half who is willing to put his body on the line, Hanley should be spoken about more positively.

It's no coincidence that the 24 year-old has been capped for Scotland many times, Hanley is a player who should be in the Premier League.
