Fulham enjoyed a 12 year spell in the Premier League not too long ago until their subsequent relegation in 2014.

Under the ownership of Mohammed Al-Fayed, the club went from strength to strength in the Premier League, racking up 12 straight seasons and a record finish of seventh position, also playing in Europe.

Their most notable results being extraordinary comeback wins against Wolfsburg and Juventus until the defeat in the Europa League final to Atletico Madrid.

There time as an established Premier League club dwindled from time to time under Al-Fayed with their league position slowly drifting year after year, and when Al-Fayed sold the club to Shahid Khan the club's fate was sealed.

In his first season as owner Fulham went through a string of managers but none of them could save them from relegation as they finished 19th.

Expectations of an immediate return were rife but sadly misplaced as despite some heavy investment by Khan in the first team squad, which included the signing of Leeds hot shot Ross McCormack, they have ultimately failed to get promoted back.

Their league position has fallen year on year in the Championship and under the management of Slavisa Jokanovic they are set for another season of mid-table mediocrity, despite having a star laden squad with Ross Mccormack and young French striker Moussa Dembele attracting Premier League interest.

This fall from grace has been down to some pretty shoddy transfer business so we now look at the FIVE worst Fulham signings of all time.......

Kostas Mitroglou

Expectations were high when the Greek star was brought in from Olympiakos for a fee of £12 million, as the hopes of Fulham fans were that he could rescue them from relegations.

Sadly these hopes never materialised with him not scoring a single Premier League goal for Fulham.

The Greek striker is still on the books at Craven Cottage meaning they're still paying a percentage of his wages, as he goes on another of his loan spells.

He had a very successful loan spell at Olympiakos scoring 16 goals in 24 games and this season is having a lot of success at Benfica with 15 goals, yet he is not playing for Fulham so they should try to sell him as soon as possible.

Diomansy Kamara

Another striker flop for the Cottagers was Kamara who arrived in 2007 and in four years at the club scored 12 goals.

The £6 million pound fee was always difficult to justify as his goal return at West Brom was pretty poor as well.

He did suffer from a ruptured cruciate ligament in his time there but inconsistency was also rife in his spell and in their latter Premier League years, he found his opportunities more and more limited and in his time there went on loan to Celtic and Leicester, before securing a permanent move to Turkey.

Steve Marlet

Perhaps the biggest flop that played for Fulham was French striker Steve Marlet, who arrived at the club from Lyon in 2001 and scored 11 goals in the next four years.

Arriving for £11.5 million he was the club's record signing at the time and barely played during the 2003-04 season, and resulted in the manager being sacked.

He was loaned out to Marseille for two seasons before securing a permanent move to Marseille.

Eddie Johnson

It's the Football Manager wonderkid himself Eddie Johnson, who at the age of 31 has played for eight different clubs.

He seemed to have the world at his feet when at Kansas City Wizards, where he scored 27 goals in 43 games with a host of European clubs willing to take a chance on him.

Fulham paid over £6 million pounds for the American in 2008 and in three years at the club, he played 19 games and did not score a single goal.

He was loaned out to Cardiff and Preston and failed to make an impression there either, and ended up returning to America where he flourished for the Seattle Sounders.

Hameur Bouazza

Fulham signed the former Watford striker for around £4 million pounds in 2007 only for him to score once in his 2 seasons at the club with his goal against Manchester City.

His time at the club was blighted with inconsistency and injury and eventually he was loaned out too Charlton and Birmingham. where he failed to impress and in 2009 he was sold too Sivasspor.

The Algerian international was one of Watford's better performers in the Premier League they year previous but failed to replicate that kind of form in the year after.
