Stoke City’s Premier League adventure came to an end earlier this month, with the Potters now preparing for life back in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following relegation from the Premier League, Stoke have been quick to make some changes at the bet365 Stadium, with Gary Rowett appointed on a three-year deal.

Rowett has turned his back on Derby, who he led to sixth last season, in favour of a move to Stoke, where he will replace Paul Lambert in the dugout.

Stoke’s new boss has experienced the highs and lows of the Championship in recent years, and the club’s supporters will be encouraged by his arrival.

However, as always, the transfer window is going to be key for Rowett and Stoke, as the squad at the bet365 Stadium needs a reshape.

Here at FLW, we identify FIVE midfielders that need to be on Stoke’s radar over the course of the summer…

Woods has shown real quality at Brentford in the Championship, producing consistently at Griffin Park.

Brentford have failed to break into the top-six over recent years , and the lure of a promotion push could interest Woods.

Stoke should have a player of his quality on their radar.

Marshall spent the second-half of last season on-loan with Millwall, where he made an impressive impact.

The midfielder will return to Wolves, but is likely to be sold.

Stoke should take a look.

Depending on Villa’s play-off final result, Bjarnason could be available in the summer.

The Icelandic midfielder has quality, but hasn’t been given enough trust by Steve Bruce.

He could be a useful addition at Stoke.

If you look at League One, Nolan is one of the division’s standout midfielders.

His performances at Shrewsbury over the last 12 months have been really impressive, and if Paul Hurst’s side fail to secure Championship football, the midfielder could well take the step up without them.

Nolan should be on Rowett’s radar.

Maddison is another League One midfielder who has impressed in the last 12 months.

At Peterborough, Maddison has proved to be a real creative spark.

The attacking midfielder could be a cheap, but shrewd, addition to Stoke’s squad.
