Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka is set for a busy summer as he looks for a shake-up in personnel at the club.

He is clearly not entirely satisfied with the squad that he was left by Mark Warburton and this was evidenced in the January transfer window, when he brought in the likes of Ben Watson, Joe Lolley and Tobias Figueiredo while getting rid of peripheral players such as Armand Traore.

Many more players are expected to head for the exit door at The City Ground this summer while many arrivals are anticipated.

Karanka will be looking at midfielders, among other positions, especially with loan stars Jack Colback and Lee Tomlin returning to their parent clubs.

In both attacking midfield and deeper in central midfield, Forest need reinforcements ahead of next year.

Here are five midfielders that Nottingham Forest should be looking to swoop for this summer.

Forest need to prioritise a permanent move for Tomlin because his creativity and experience is invaluable in the midfield.

The 29-year-old is surplus to requirements at Cardiff so this deal could go ahead.

Another player who could add creativity to Forest's midfield is Walsall's diminutive midfielder Oztumer.

The 26-year-old scored 16 goals and contributed with eight assists this season but he is set to leave the club on a free transfer to further his career in the Championship.

The 21-year-old is an exciting, skilful, quick winger who looks set to leave Scunthorpe United for a compensation fee after his contract expired.

With five goals and 14 assists to his name, there are few better attacking midfielders in League One than Adelakun and he would be a superb, cheap, long-term signing for Forest.

Former Tottenham starlet Bostock has been impressing abroad for Toronto, Royal Antwerp, OH Leuven, RC Lens and Bursaspor.

Perhaps it is time for the 26-year-old central midfielder to return to England and make a name for himself at Forest.

Arguably the best player in League One over the last three years, the 24-year-old has scored 10 goals and added a staggering 21 assists to his name this season.

Peterborough have transfer listed him so that he can further his career in the Championship and Forest need to make a move for the versatile attacking midfielder.
