For Sheffield Wednesday it has been an impressive season under their new owner Dejphon Chansiri and manager Carlos Carvalhal.

They have defied expectation and with some heavy investment reached the playoffs and nearly earned promotion. Carvalhal brought in attackers Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri who both proved hits with the latter being nominated for Player of the Year.

Their defence was solid with Lees and Loovens solid at the back and Westwood was excellent in goal.

Their midfield was impressive with Bannan the main architect but Lopez and Hutchinson were very impressive as well. They ended the season strongly and consolidated the final playoff spot and impressively defeated Brighton 3-1 on aggregate in the semi finals.

They did not turn up in the final though with Hull scraping a 1-0 win in an unspectacular game.

Carvalhal and Wednesday fans will hope to finish the job next season and here are 5 Manchester United youngsters they could look to sign to improve the squad...

James Wilson

The United striker is sought after by a host of Championship sides and an increasing number of Premier League sides.

He has had a lot of loan moves with his most recent to Championship high flyers Brighton who came so close to promotion last season.

Wilson bagged 5 goals in 22 games including a crucial equalizer against Derby and is a big prospect for the future with numerous showings for the England youth teams all ready.

He had made his debut for United and scored against QPR but needs loan moves to the Championship to get game time which is unlikely next season due to the emergence of Marcus Rashford.

 Ashley Fletcher

The 20-year-old striker is slowly making his way at United as he tries to emerge from the shadows like Rashford did.

He spent the season on loan to League One side Barnsley and scored some very important goals. He scored a goal in there Johnstone Paint Trophy win over Oxford and even more importantly bagged after just 90 seconds against Millwall in the League One playoff final.

Noted for his large frame, he is a menace in the air but also blessed with good finishing and pace and causes defences a lot of problems and a presence like that could be just what Wednesday need.

Andreas Pereira

The exciting Belgian winger looks an excellent prospect at United and is improving all the time but needs a loan move to enhance his development.

For United he has started in the Capital One Cup games and shone brightly with goals against Ipswich and was there best player in their defeat to Middlesbrough, being the only player of theirs to bag in the penalty shootout.

He has represented Belgium at youth level and looked good for the youth side at United but he needs real game time to further his development.

Will Keane

Will-Keane

Will Keane is not on fire. Certainly not for any of the clubs he has been loaned out too. The striker needs a good loan spell or United may get rid of him.

The 23 year old failed at Wednesday before with just 3 goals in 20 appearances and has since failed at Preston last season. But with him having a point to prove it could be a good season to get hold of him with him determined to show what he can do.

Keane need to works on his finishing but could link up well with some quality playmakers like Forestieri.

Nick Powell

Nick PowellNick Powell

Powell is undoubtedly very talented but the best years of his career are being wasted in the youth sides at United.

Ever since his move from Crewe he has barely showed for the first team and been restricted to loan moves. He moved too Wigan on loan when they were struggling in the Championship and seemed very impressive so can cope at this level.

If Wednesday needed some cover or add new exuberance from the flanks then Powell could be their man.
